68 tooth Sportster sprockets on FL's?

Hmmmm......sounds like someone from Alabama with all this different "tooth" count stuff.

Thanks Mike for the correction.

Changing the belt is freaking OUT for me.

OK now I'm confusing myself. If you change out the pulley with the 07 and later XL sprocket which is a 70 tooth, it will give you a 2.94 final ratio and folks are doing that without having to change the belt. With the 68 tooth I am not sure, but I believe you will have to change the belt.

I read in another thread where a guy did this and did NOT need to change his belt. Just sayin. I'd do it in a heartbeat if I didn't have to give up the IDS. Not a swap I'm willing to make.

Hmmmm.....I tried to look in our parts book for the tooth count on the Sportsters starting with '07 and working all the way back to '01 and they had a 68 tooth sprocket listed in our books.

I may have missed something though, I'll have to look again on Monday...

Brad, do you have the part # on the 70 tooth Sportster sprocket?

I'm not at work at HD but can look on Monday. Now come to think of it I think you're right about the years. I thought it was an 07, but could be wrong. I'll check Monday if not only for the satisfaction.

I too am curious
I have the IDS kit for the 07. It has the 66 pulley. Can I buy the pulley from the 09 and install it without issue? I can handle the belt length issue just need to know if the pulley will fit and line up.

Sure is but the outer sprocket is seperate and if the interface is the same I can't see why that 68 outer sprocket won't work.
There is also a 70T used on the Triglide
