6682 problems

I was given a 6682 that was used to demo the printing capabilities and the camera on the phone by my manager. We are not using it for this purpose anymore so I wanted to use it as a regular phone. It currently has no sim card in it and when I put one in it, it says invalid. It is a cingular branded phone. Is there anything I can do to make it work?

*Master reset has no affect on it. I have tried two 64k sims but I do not have any 32k around to try with.

OK, are you using your cingular sim in it. Also, if it is a cingular sim which one do you have the new 3g, the old 64k (i think that it is 64k, it is orange and white) or the really old 32K sim

Both of the sims that I have tried it with are cingular sims. I would like to just be able to update the phone software and go from there but I dont think there is a way to force the update on a nokia. It wants me to have the sim card in and in general profile before I update.

Which sim are you using. I know that it has problems with the older two sims. You need to have the new 3g sim. Are you using that sim?

Actually I did the one thats *#7307# or something like that. I am now making sure the battery has 3/4 because I read it needed that to work.

I say at least a 1/2 is ok. But,
Turn the phone off
Press the (send,*,# keys at the same time)
Hold them down
Press the power key (keep holding those 3 keys)
Wait for it to boot (some say formatting some don't)
Then you should be good. Let me know how it goes.

Yeah I have gone through that a few times. Mine never did say formatting I just kept on holding it til it asked me what my city was again.

I still have not found anything that I can do to get it to read a sim card. I also tried a t-mobile sim despite the clear cingular branding. My manager also told me that it was set up as a demo phone and they told him it would not work as a regular phone. I just assume this is because of the current software on the phone.
