6682 Covers

I've ordered the Nokia 6682 from LetsTalk.com on a 2 year contract extension. Because it's an extension and not new service, I'm supposed to get it for $199......but, I'm not sure how they did it, but they entered it into the computer awkwardly and I'm getting it for $99.....and it's still an extension

But anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew what color the LetsTalk.com 6682's were? I really want mine to be that electric blue like the 6681........if they're not the electric blue, does anyone know where I can get a 6681 cover for not too much $$$ that's the electric blue color and is KNOWN to be OEM? And, would a 6681 cover work on a 6682? I dont see why it wouldn't, just making sure.

not that I'm advocating it on a phone, but you can use basic lighter fluid (like Ronsonol or Zippo) instead, it's a lot less caustic than nail polish remover and usually does the job. It's what I use to de-sticker everything, works great and doesn't tend to mar any surfaces - just wash with some soap right away to remove residue.(*)

Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase a replacement cover from Nokia for their 668X?

I accidentally cracked the screen on my 6682 the other night when I dropped a controller on it. I would really like to get the original white Nokia original replacement. I went ahead and ordered the black rubberized replacement like TLCC's from an eBay store to tide me over. I should be getting it in this week so I'll post my impressions at that time.

Thanks!

I just screwed up my red faceplate

Kinda. Well, see once in a while I go cleaning my computer surfaces with isopropyl alcohol , and so also just clean my phone just because it gets exposed more so than my computer which stays at home. Anyways, I had avoided using alcohol on my phone with the non-OEM cover, since I knew it wasn't as good as far as the color goes (paint vs. colored plastic). Anyways, the cover, as I expected, was fine (it was fine every other time), but then I got this weird thing on the screen part!

There are now what looks like permenant SMUDGES across a good portion of my screen area! wtf! grr stupid low quality parts, why the freak can't they spend an extra $.10 and make a high quality one? What the heck. Can't get rid of the smudges, though it seems to have at least gotten less apparent... probably got covered over by oil or something now. Who knows. Bleh. But its still useable... so whatever

Ya that blue case is HAWT....i might get a black one later on down the road...still waiting for my krusell to get here.

Did you get that off ebay? Is that a knock off or the real thing. Funny thing is, it doesnt really matter...I cant tell anyway =)

HighLife,

What I meant was getting and OEM faceplate direct from Nokia rather than an eBay store (mainly because the stores online do not have the pearl white cover). I was unable to find any faceplates for the 6682 on Nokia's webiste.

Thanks

I've ordered from him before, the "tool" does come, but its useless, and cannot be used for helping you remove the cover.

It's a "tool" for something, but certainly not removing your faceplate.

The one my friend recieved from LetsTalk was silver. It matched his PowerBook, which made him happy.

Fatmui on ebay has my blessing for OEM Nokia covers.

I didn't even realize there was such availability of decent faceplates for the 6682. I'm intrigued by the black rubber one! How does it fit? How does it wear? How difficult is the switch? Is the clear plastic that covers the screen of comparable quality to the OEM casing?

I currently have the Krussel case but pocket my phone (I hate belt clips - I've broken every one I've ever owned). The rubberized casing would be a nice compromise so that I can save the stock case for when/if I decide to sell the phone, and if it reduces the play in the camera door then it's even better. The Krussel case is high quality but obscures the beautiful screen and adds bulk that the phone doesn't need.

I notice with some of these China-Store offers a black keypad. Has anyone tried this keypad? The last aftermarket keyboard I used on a Nokia was horrible compared to the OEM one which I quickly switched back to.

Thanks for any and all info - hopefully someone with a rubberized case will read this - I notice they also have rubberized electric blue and orange cases now!

Does anyone know if that is a real one or fake one?

He says they are OEM, I believe it. Extremely high quality, only thing is, expect to wait around 2 wks for delivery since it is from Hong Kong. Cost me 27 USD total.

That's incredible, I just ordered one from LetsTalk, and mine came out to be 199.99 . Congratulations on getting it for a mere 100 bucks, which is a fantastic price to pay for this particular phone given its capabilities.

The guy on the phone said that it was indeed silver. I too would be interested in getting different faceplates for it - does anyone know how the faceplate system works on this particular phone? For example, is it like the 6230 in that it each faceplate has its own "screen"? If not, I definitely need to purchase a screen protector.

I'm also really concerned about Cingular branded vs. Unbranded, but I'll post in a different topic about that.

Thanks.

Here's someone on eBay sellin' 6681/6682 covers. I wanna get the black...but I think I'll wait a year so I can make my phone look "new" so I won't have the urge to get another phone lol .

Black rubber one is really nice, only thing is you might have to make the holes for the earpiece bigger so you can hear on it. (not a problem for me, i always use a headset)
Had it for about 3 months, no problems, just a few scratches on the screen. (seems that the screen scratches a little easier than OEM, but no big deal)

I'm intrigued with the rubber white ones, if anyone gets their hands on one of these, let me know.
