6682 BT problem. Firmware?

So my 6682 has a weird BT problem with my Nokia HS-26W headset. When I first pair the two (turn on bt on the phone, then turn on the headset and they automatically pair), and make a call it works fine. Generally no matter how long I talk they'll stay connected with no problems. Strange thing happens after the first call though, the headset usually drops, so I've got to dig in to my pocket and switch back to the handset. Any attempts to reconnect the two (either going in to the menu on the phone and connecting, or powering off then on the headset) only lasts for 10-20 seconds before they disconnect automatically again. If I power off the phone and turn it back on, then I can get 1 good connection again before it all goes to hell. As you can imagine this is extremely frustrating when I'm driving down the highway with the phone in my pocket.

Anyway, the phone has FW v4.62.0 RM-58 so I believe it's the most recent from Cingular. Anybody heard of this issue before and have any clue what I can do about it?

Thanks a lot.

I had this problem with my 6682 and H700 headset. What I did was, delete the headset from the phone then re pair them. After I rebooted my phone. I also always leave my BT on my phone on. So far this has been working pretty good. Maybe it's just the headset? I haven't heard many good things about Nokia BT headsets.

I have had the SAME PROBLEM with the Nokia HS-36. I also have the exact same firmware. Its either the head set or its the firmware phone.... Whats the LATEST NON-CINGULAR nokia 6682 firmware????????

I have a 6682 with a HS-26W and I can confirm the exact same problem. It is so frustrating. I've only had the headset for 2 days but I think I'm returning it. I sure wish there were an easy fix.

I have a somewhat similar problem with my 6682 and Nokia HDW-3 headset. Everything goes well the first time I pair them but if I turn off both BT on the phone and the headset, and then turn them on and try to pair them again, it won't work. My 6682 will show that BT is transmitting a signal but it can't pair successfully. The only solution is to power cycle the phone.

I must note that this happened to me consistently since I got the phone and then the problem totally vanished for a while, but it happened again recently. I would say it's more of a phone related issue, since I never had any such problems with my 6230b.

Btw, my FW is v4.41.0 (Rogers branded).

seesm like the problem is with nokia headsets. i'm planning on gettin a headset for mine, i'll stay away from nokia's for sure.

if both phone and BT headsets are paired and when your turn ON the headset and the BT on the handset and the 2 wont connect automatically to each other, press the call button on the BT headset and wait for a chirp signal, or see the LED indicators, the 2 will connect to each other...

another thing to consider is hard resetting your BT headset... on some this is accomplished by turning off the headsert1st if it is on and then press and hold the (+) volume key and then turn ON the BT headset...

I've tried both, many times, and neither works. Pressing the call button never works. After a reset, I can pair them for one call - then on the next call the connection will, without warning, disconnect. I've already returned the headset and got my money back.

I've finally found success with Nokia 6682 and a bluetooth headset.

After FOUR headsets I finally found one the functions properly. I returned the Nokia headset and went to my Cingular store in frustration. I got a Motorola H500 and it works beautifully!!!! It connects every time. It answers the phone properly. It disconnects properly. It voicedials properly.

Here's what we discovered. All the headsets I bought previously were made for Bluetooth v1.1 and v1.2. My Nokia 6682 supports v1.2. So we tried this headset because it ONLY uses v1.2. And....It works. Everytime. I'm so happy.

Also, the manuals say to charge the headsets for 2 hours, but to be safe I charged it 24 hours.

I hope this helps someone having the same problems I was having.
