6620, Bluetooth and PC Internet Sharing - Tech help required

I've spent a lot of time in recent days reading about this, both here and elsewhere on the web. From what I've read here there are people out there knowledgable about what I'm trying to do, and others who just chime in with the usual remarks ("use the search function", "why would you even wanna do that?") without adding any value to the thread. I'm really hoping for to hear from the former over the latter.

OK, here's where I am. I've gone through the "gnubox" process of creating an access point to connect to my PC via Bluetooth serial port. Using this access point, I am able to successfully connect to my PC (at least according to my PC). On the PC end, I can see the connection has been established and I can verify that the signal strength of the connection is good. But I'm seeing no activity (bytes sent/received) taking place. The 6620 (using Opera as the test browser) never leaves "Connecting..." mode.

On the PC I am running Microsoft ICS. From all I can tell it is setup as it should be (but I'm hardly an expert here). When the 6620 appears to connected to the PC via B/T using this new access point, ICS status tells me that no internet sharing is taking place. The Network Access setup on the PC end is set to allow shared Internet/LAN access, but the configure button on that screen does nothing. I'm not if that's relevant, but I pass that along too.

Intuitively, based on the fact that I can get to my PC (I think), I feel like I must be quite close to the end of this process. But close ain't getting it done!! To anyone who can offer genuine suggestions and/or thoughts on this, I thank you in advance.

ICS needs to be off, if you're using ICS to give another computer access you may be SOL.
 
you can setup ics through no problem, i've done it several times.

1.) pair your phone and PC.
2.) Go to My Network Places --> View Network Connections --> Create a New Connection (these are all left hand tool bar options on XP).
3.) setup a dial-up connection (the wizard will walk you through this).
-->Info you will need: # to Dial: *99#; username and password blank;
4.) make sure the 'bluetooth modem' is selected under properties of your connection
5.) once you are done a new icon will be created in your 'my network connections' tab, named whatever you named it during the wizard (mine is called T-Mobile EDGE)
6.) double click this icon, press Dial, should be connected.

Tips: not completely neccessary, but it makes sense to set your pairing as 'authorized' on your phone. If you are on t-zones (for T-Mobile of course), you will need to use the proxy in whatever browser you are using (i.e. IE, or Firefox or whatever).

There's a good tutorial for this in the t-mobile forums as a sticky. If you take out the tmo and put your own providers settings in, it should work just fine.

(p.s. i'm composing this on my laptop tethered to my 6620 over EDGE)

As for the ICS part, once you get this connection working, you can connect it, then use the ICS wizard to get the other computers connected, using the 6620 as a modem for all computers.

I believe that pdj is trying to use his computer as a gateway to the internet for his phone. not connect to the internet using his phone as a modem.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. Since I'm not using XP I don't quite know how to setup incoming connections, but I'll look nto it. This is quite the learning experience!

I have tried almost everything but I can't seem to be able to get the GNUBOX to work with my comp. Obviously I am missing out on something.

I would appreciate any help that anyone could provide to setup my nokia 6620 to allow me to surf the web though the BT connection on my computer.
