Hmmmm, what to start from?

Well generally I don't like flip phones, well gotta get used to this one at least for now maybe if something smaller like E50 comes out without a joystick but with a joypad and Symbian 9.1 FP1 (or Symbian 9 but FP1 for sure)

What can I say, the phone is so fast that even I'm shocked, the UI is incredibly faaaast, yeeeeyy, I've checked the CPU speed with jbenchmark ACE and it shows 436MHz, that's a shocker for me, everywhere I read it says 330MHz, no hardware 3D though
The main screen is quite good, but when you set a dark theme it's hard to see in direct sunlight, the backlight could be stronger in my opinion.
The outer display could be better although it's TFT type, the pixel density isn't the best out there
2,5mm audio jack with an apropriate 2,5 to 3,5 mm adapter the music rocks. While you can set the equalizer for the media player you can't do that for the radio, so while the audio of the media player is quite good and I'm an audiophile (or whatever you call that) the radio isn't that good. Above that in between the audio files, when there is silence you can hear some hiss, which ofcourse shouldn't be there.
Most of the apps work on the new symbian release, one which doesn't is RemindMe which BTW I notified the developer about that, see what comes out
Several changes in the operation of the phone features:
turning the phone mode to Data Transfer no longer takes the phone off-line which is good IMO
recurrent alarms, finally
auto-keylock, finally, but this phone doesn't really need that, it's a flip phone remember?
The overall quality of the phone's materials and make is quite good also, only thing that I don't like is the plastic, the back cover is satin like (don't know very good english), the rest is glossy though which I don't like, they could make it like Nokia 6131
The batt life is moderate, not a shocker here, been using the phone from this morning, had maybe 30 mins of talks, maybe 10 sms's, listened to the radio for 5 minutes maybe , installed a few apps, and played with the phone a little, played some games for 30 minutes tops and the batt down 3 bars already. Don't know if it's a good result, this is the very first charge.
What else can I add, stereo speakers, loud enough for me, the flip can be set to take the calls when opened and it works right just when you open it, not like the phones I've played with (6131 i.e.)

Overall I'm very satisfied except the form factor. I whish Nokia made an E50 or E65 with this symbian release, it really outperforms the older one, apps open instantly, ahh one more thing the RAM, which is an issue on the previous release, this one has 13MB free after some time of use but this doesn't seem to affect the WEB browser which opens pages without problems

Couple of things.

1) 6290 has a 369 mhz processor
2) I wouldnt expect great sound coming from the radio, so no equalizer shouldn't be a big deal

Question:
Does the * key replace the Pencil key?

I see. That's great then! So in text mode (e.g. writing SMS), the '#' (pound key) functions as the pencil key while in standby mode, it functions as the profile change (silent to general and vice-versa) key.

Can you also use the '#' key to cut/copy text in webpages using the default browser?

correct. you must hold down the '#' key to select the text you want to copy and paste.

the '#' key does not work in the web browser, as that key is assigned to zooming out of the webpage.
