6290 and N75 Comparison Pics

I dont like the 6290 now.

There's no included memory card.
The manual is entirely in German
The charger didn't come with an adapter, it uses round plugs.
Fingerprints get all over the front plastic.

But the fonts are still small after setting them to large (all that does is make the fonts bold)
The fonts on my N73 are still bigger, which my dad had a hard time reading.
My 70 something uncle who we bought this for probably wont enjoy that.

The buttons are nice and big though.
Its a lot faster loading the menus than my N73.

Edit:
I cant get the battery out easily. Grrrr

I must have been so obsessed with the N95 that I totally missed out on the 6290. After reading about it I'm not impressed at all. It's all the same to me however, the N75 looks better imo.

I regret to inform everyone that the 6290 does not have A2DP and that mail for exchange has the exact same issues on it as with the N95.

Everything else on this phone rocks though.

Agreed. It has a lot of hp under the hood. I'm not crazy about the stock themes, though. Have you found/installed any new ones?

For the 6290 v. N75 comparison, I find the keypad better on the N75, as well as incoming call volume. The 6290 is faster, though. It's almost like an S40.

bostonirishguy... since your pics show the n75 w/ cingular branding... any idea how soon its coming to cingular stores?

also... is the UMTS on the n75 tri-band (ie. 850/1900/2100) or only dual band? (850/1900 only)? and is it HSDPA?

cheers

Thanks, had missed the new rumor

...THAN the next S60 phone from Cingular...still not out there for most of us[at reasonable $$].

There will always be the next 'really great' phone, that may delay accepting intermediate upgrades..I still carry a 3650, while I have had the wife carry a 3620, 6620, E62.. I have wanted to try each but as there has always been far better on the horizon I have had trouble committing to any of these intermediates.. The N75, is the new grail. So close to drop, so to near perfect by current availability standards, without costing so much that loss or breakage would seem too high..

I'm way out of contract and checking Cingular: Smartphone,Nokia,Camera daily

yes, one can always whine about something, but in most aspects I 'm sure you must know that progress happens.

Else, resolving to neglect sunk costs, I'll trade you my 3650 for your N95. LOL

a phone with a newer OS and a faster processor is equal to another with a slower processor and an older OS...

I'm not saying that the 6290 is on another level, but they aren't equal...

I'll take a slower processor and an older OS because most or all of the bugs have been fixed and the OS has been stabilized rather than having apps crash, rebooting and resetting.

I dont agree that the OS will always have problems.

Its usually more demanding hardware (like autofocus cameras) or RAM hungry software (like the web browser) that's causing problems like slowdown or crashes.

Do you see the mass rushing to buy Vista? Most sticking with XP until the bugs are worked out.

Ever heard of the saying, don't buy a new model car? Wait a year or two until the bugs are gone.

Most rookies sit while vets start unless they is a desperate need, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, etc.
