6 Insane Spin-offs of Animated Cartoons that almost got made

Many years ago, when Marv Wolfman and George Perez first worked on The New Teen Titans, the team confronted the JLA. Batman thought Robin would back down if he was told to do so.

Robin replied, "You can't tell us what to do. We're not some Junior Justice league!"

I find this rather funny now...

I think I remember hearing a few times that one of the original ideas for the series was to focus on a teenage Bruce while he trains to become Batman. I don't think it would have been like the Gotham High School concept since Bruce would be traveling around the world and learning from different masters. Then they came up with the concept of a new teenage Batman set in the future, which became Batman Beyond. I'm not sure if they went right into the Batman Beyond concept after a series focused on teenage Bruce Wayne was rejected or not, but I definitely recall that being one o the series that was shot down by Kids' WB.

I think Gotham High would have been something rather neat to look at, if they'd avoid those cliche teenage humor that is mostly added to shows involving teenagers. I pictured this working out, if it would be handled correctly. Its a shame that they didn't allow it to be greenlighted. Dear lord, thank goodness that the baby TMNT spinoff didn't happen.

I've heard so much regarding on Toon Platoon, in fact I still remember the day that my older brother was hoping that they go for the sequel with that. I find it rather odd that Spielberg cans it for having WWII stuff in it. When in reality Steven himself has done stuff that had stuff that took place around WWII. I also heard that he didn't approve of a script for a 4th Roger shot called "Hare in my soup. Which I do not know a whole lot about. Also, who discovered Roger Rabbit is no stranger to me. It was intended to be a parody of the Broadway musicals at the time. Alan Menken wrote a few songs for the film, the only one that managed to get out into the blue was the song "It Only happens in movies". I do not think Who Discovered Roger Rabbit would have ended quite well. I rather have Toon Platoon than a parody of Broadway. If the Roger sequel will be 2D, get Eric Goldberg to be in charge of the animation.

I am puzzled on how the original cosplay for Shrek with Chris Farley would have been. If this was a 2D animated project, we would probably have gotten ourselves a parody of Disney's animation as well as Don Bluth's animation. I remember seeing a storyboard which I think was the original idea for Shrek before they got Myers for it. It had Shrek with a two headed witch.

The Farley voiced Shrek could have gone very well, or very, very badly.

In going well, we would have only gotten one movie with Farley passing (hopefully) and no endless avalanche of mediocre to outright crappy sequels and t.v. specials.

In going very, very, badly, we'd have gotten not only a sequel, but endlessly endless DTV movies, a grade D t.v. series (If it was done in the 90's), and an onslaught of other bastardizations.

There was also apparently a "lost" simpsons short that was going to take place during WW2 called "Nazis on Tap". Apparently, it was scripted, but never saw the light of day.

Bravestarr was going to have a spinoff series called Bravo! that Filmation was going to put out, but then they went under. It was kind of like Bravestarr meets the Loony Toons. It starred the Prarie People, but Deputy Fuzz was not in it. The pilot is on BCI's Volume 1 set. It was pretty bad.

There was also a similar idea floating around for another Batman series after Beyond that revolved around Batman training younger heroes. Apparently, Bruce Timm got so annoyed at some of the executive input (notably a part about the young heroes competing for the mantle of Batman instead of fighting crime) that he had to come up with another series idea specifically to stop that one from going into production.

That's how Justice League was born.

I cant see how Gotham High could have worked as anything but a spoof. If the villains went to Gotham High BEFORE they became villains it could have worked, but having stuff like teen joker just is inane. It kind of reminds me of a marketing line that was thankfully kiboshed called "Marvel Babies" which was going to feature infant versions of all the marvel heroes (and doc ock!).
