Please help me!~ this is my first post and on Oct 15,2008 I broke my 5th metatarsal (near the neck) the dr. had me in a walking boot for 3 months and it will not heal. I understand from research that it is a difficult bone to heal ( I am a smoker)
The Dr decided to put 5 screws and a plate in on Jan 7th
Just visited the Dr and there is no growth it looks the same since the original break with the exception of the bone he placed in there at surgery.
He said it is because I smoke I think he is missing something here.
Yes it should slow the progress of growth but not stop the process.
What other problems or disease is there that will hinder the bone growth?
I am sick of being on crutches and I am 48 years old female.
I now have what the Dr says is corpul tunnel in left hand from crutching
