5230 doesnn't come with stopwatch or timer app built in. Darn!

Something I noticed missing on my (now not so new) 5230 that I had on both my previous Nokia flip phones are basic a basic stopwatch and countdown timer. I am kind of surprised that neither of these functions was built into the phone by Nokia.

So searching for free options there does not seem to be too many. A couple I found wouldn't even install. So far the ones I have loaded are "Time Machine" which has kind of a cool user interface and counts up or down and "Eggtimer" which is a cute little kitchen timer type emulation where you turn the dial to the number of minutes you need (it only sets whole minutes). At the end, eggtimer even makes the annoying ringing bell sound a standard kitchen timer makes.

The down side to having to use a 3rd party app is they do not interface nicely with the phone's indicator. On the old flip phones, when you left the timer/stopwatch running and went to other things, you would get a little icon indicating a timing was running. AND when the timer finished, you would get an indication on the screen plus a way to silence it. With the 3rd party apps, if running in the background, they make their noise and you have to switch over to them.

Anyway, anyone else find any good stop watch or timer applications for S60 (5th) phones they could recommend?

yes, i had to download an app to make my phone more usefull. i use it to count the women uterus contraction in 10 minutes and to set the drugs droplets in a set time. The timer from offscrn works great!
 
This is also one of the features my 5530 doesn't have. Instead, what I do is to set the alarm if ever I need to. However, it still doesn't work as easy as a built in timer. Nokia must address this issue. They must have it in the list of updates in the software to be installed. I am not planning to pay for an application like that.

By the way, the other day I tried to use the Time Machine app I mentioned in my original post. I discovered that when you use the slider on the side of the phone to turn off the screen and lock the keyboard (before putting it back in my pocket) it STOPS time machine. When you unlock the phone the timer continues from where it left off. So not at all useful if you need to time something that is longer than a few minutes.
