50cent vs Jay-Z

I read through every post in this thread - up until here - w/o feeling the need to respond.

The Blueprint and Reasonable Doubt are EASILY recognized by the entired hip-hop community AND myself as classics. For you to say that the Black Album is better than both of those CD's, outwardly shows your lack of longevity and understanding of hip-hop music. I personally place the Blueprint as one of the greatest hip-hop albums EVER (Def in the top 5). Reasonable Doubt is also classic and many steps above The Black Album. Even Jigga's wack shit is better than many of the current MC's shit that's out. And this is all coming from a Nas fan.

While I don't follow Jay's theory as him being "best rapper alive" - as he puts it - I do think he's to be mentioned among the best rappers to ever grab the mic. That's word.

And Joe Buddens is a great MC. You say he doesn't say much, and probably never heard the pain he spit on his album. His first two singles are a throwback to hip-hop's origins: having fun on the microphone. Jeez.

Jay-z never writes down his songs supposedly...

but you can understand him, and he has better lyrics but..

i love you like a fat kid love cake > *

I've been listening to hip-hop since I began liking music also... like when I was 10/11/12 whatever. And just b/c the guys you named are 'pioneers' for what hip hop has evolved to now, doesn't mean that it is the greastest shit ever. I can honestly say I don't, never have and probably never will feel any of that old school pre-90's rap (i.e. Run DMC, Flash, Kurtis Blow, etc.). It just sounRAB so primative to the stuff that I like now. That doens't mean that I don't have the knowledge of or respect for what hip-hop HAS been, it's just my preference. The Blueprint is a CD I can listen from Intro to last song and not skip one. Same with Mobb Deep Murda Muzik, Nas It Was Written, among others. That to me is what a "classic" album is and that's why those are in MY top 5.

Anybody who starts bringin up "underground" rappers and how they are superior to this mainstream shit is stupid. I admire people that support the underground, but I think they have a distorted view on hip hop as a whole. I agree with some things they say, whilst I think other comments by them are total bullshit. No offense, but some of these white kiRAB rebel from the mainstream just so they can look hip in the eyes of others. I have listened to most of the artists that remain underground, in addition to Canibus and imo, their music is unnecessary. These are artists who have something "important" to say, but rather than find a proper venue for relaying their messages, they resort to putting it out in rap music, which is generally mocked by society. In my opinion, this is entertainment. Music. Music is generally meant to provide pleasure. Not educate, or stimualte the mind. I agree that some mainstream rappers are also garbage, but it goes both ways. It all comes down to a matter of taste. Speaking from a buisness perspective, most of these underground jackoRAB cannot create a hit, not because they don't want to, but because they simply can't. Do not believe everything you hear, most of those guys want to be successful, and sell millions of recorRAB.

I voted Jay.
