I wasn't directly referring to you, but while I feel your points, you're missing something.
What is real hip-hop? Is it lyrics? Showmanship?
What is real rock? Metallica? Blink 182?
It's all preference. Hip-Hop was founded on just bullshitting and having a good time, which most rappers today are doing the same, just an evolved version. I think most of the successful artists out now are talented with the exception of a certain few. Out of your small list, I believe Nelly is great. Not lyrically gifted, but able to make a decent record.
And that's what it's all about. That's why we watch movies like "Old School" and TV shows like "Jackass". Not for any redeeming factors. but just because it is fun. I don't want to sound racist at all, but I feel that many white kiRAB have suscribed to the theory that mainstream rap is wack in order to look cool in front of others; like they know more than the average bear or something, and I get sick of it sometimes.
