500/1 JL Amp Shutting Off =(?

Ok so my amp will cut on and off doesn't matter the volume i could have it at 8 it'll chime in and chime out...or i could have it at 20 and same thing.
When i played around with the amp the green light cut back on i never had anyone really ever help me set the amp settings but it hasn't done this ever before. My Lights always dim at night. I'm not clipping the amp because its just 1 10w7@ +3DB Bass, on the head unit i have -7 DB Alpine.
I checked all my wires from the battery , the head unit, remote wires rca's speaker wire etc etc.

I know my sub is fine because when powered it doesn't make any weird blurping noise just pure bass. When i watch the amp sometimes the green light will cut out so it has to be wiring / voltage issue because the amp doesnt get over heated or anything
 
check your battery voltage, car running with headlights on should have 14v or so. you need to be sure you're getting enough power from your battery and cables are of heavy enough gage. also are the components matched with the same ohm rating? if so you may have a defective sub with a short in it. also try hooking the remote wire to a constant 12v source to test if there is a problem inside your head unit. if it stops shutting off you'll know it's in the head unit. i agree that it's not clipping, sounds like a intermittent connection, a short in the sub or defective amp.
