The pediatrician suggested give my baby Karo syrup.. just a very small amount in their bottle. The culprit of the constipation in a baby is often the iron in the baby's formula. If your baby is on formula.. if you can, I suggest getting a formula lower in iron. Too much iron will constipate a baby. I have noticed in the last couple years the makers of formula are lowering the iron in their product so soon, hopefully, it won't be a problem. I can understand the fear for anemia, but they went to ridiculous proportions. Once baby can eat "solids" you know applesauce and other fruits with similar consistency.. the problem generally fixes itself as fruit will soften bowls naturally. This is between 4 and 6 months by the way. If your baby is on breast milk and constipated the culprit might be something mommy is eating.
