5 ways to reduce the negative impact of food packaging on the environment?

I m doing a science project, and i need to think of 5 ways to reduce the negative impact of food packagin on the environment. I already have two, use reusable bags at the supermarket, and simply recycling, but i cant think of anything else. HELP?
 
Environmentally friendly materials should be considered in essential food packaging. Biodegradable materials, and materials suitable for composting are examples.

Since you have considered bringing your own shopping bag to the supermarlet, why not take another step further and start bringing along different sizes containers, and help reducing the use of plastic bags for stuff like vegetables and fruits and staples.

Tax incentives and recognition rewards for businesses that are willing to lead and participate in the practice of using environmentally friendly materials for food packaging

Nothing is more important than educating our kids in protecting the environment, and parents should be their role models.
