dunwack,
Hello my friend. I wish you well for the new year. Please do not feel guilty for you children. There is no fault in genes you give them, as more than I have blue eyes and am fat (ha ha). I don't think that you would not want your kiRAB, right? You love them I know. We are given what God gave us, good or bad (all good I think).

To say you are in a scrapheap is ridiculous. You have value, and you matter. The world would be less if you where not here. Your love and soul you give are so more important than if you work or not.

I know that you have a stroke issue with your family, that is ok. Don't let it take your joy in life away from you.

God Bless,
Tim

Every family has some genetic "problems." If it wasn't a tendency toward strokes, it would be heart disease, or cancer, or weak immune system, or severe allergies, or diabetes, or addictions, or something.

The best thing you can do for your children is make sure that they are aware of this family tendency, and do what they can to reduce the risk. First, are these strokes related to hemorrhage or blockage? Or has your family seen some of each?

Definitely, they should monitor their blood pressure and treat it if it gets high. They should avoid SMOKING, minimize salt intake, and follow a generally healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and healthy weight.

Also, if ANYONE around you has a stroke, it's important to get to the hospital and get treated within 3 hours, as that can reduce or prevent permanent brain damage.

Guilt implies intent....did you intend to give them these genes? No. So do not feel guilty. It is an accident of nature.

But if you know what kind of strokes, then they can do everything possible to stay healthy and avoid them. If they don't, they they should feel guilty. They were forewarned and failed to act.

None of us can feel guilty of something as nebulous as sending along a gene that predisposes us to something. That same gene may also predispose us to be geniuses like Albert Einstein or artists like Picasso.

I've had 5 strokes and am still a valuable meraber of society. So are you.

hugs............Jenny
