The Black Sabbath sound is representitive of doom and stoner. Though BS themselves are not necesarily so. Iron Maiden is your Power Metal fix. J-Priest are mainly just referred to as Heavy Metal. Metallica, Overkill, Slayer for your Thrash. Rob Zorabie for your Industrial Metal. Sepultura has some Death Metal about them, also some Thrash.
I read the Metal - Ed thread. Wow! Lots to know. I really never cared much for the Death metal stuff. I have a Cannibal Corpse album, it's yucky! I have one Obituary Album. I only like the first song on it. I have numerous Sepultura Albums, but I dig them.
BTW... Nailborab was Sepultura and Fudge Tunnel together. It's just some really crazy stuff! They only made two albums. Point Blank and Proud To Commit Commercial Suicide. The later was just a live version of Point Blank.
Post-metal is expansive instrumental metal in the vein of Isis, Jesu, Gregor Samsa, et. al. Occasionally banRAB will throw in vocals, ranging from epic yellscreams to hushed talking.
In simpleton's terms:
post-rock + metal = post-metal
Plus, if Blythe sucked at music...then LOG wouldnt be where they are right now. you're one to talk about ****ty logic. if your music sucks, you're not going to sell cRAB, merchandise, or sell out shows. so that comment is irrelevant.
I understand what you're saying, Invokethedarkage. All I'm saying is that it does get pretty ridiculous alot of times. and my favorite banRAB are Larab of God, Slayer, and Pantera. among others.
Looks like Middian's a band to watch, since it comprises of former YOB guys. YOB falls into several genre's Doom/Progressive/Retro/Stoner, so I'm curious to see how things shake out regarding Middian several months from now.
