4Kids TV to Premiere Season 5 of "TMNT" February 9th

It went beyond storyboards, I think most of the animation was actually finished and they just needed retakes, cleanups, and audio mixing/additional dubbing. I don't really think this will ever see the light of day, except maybe in script format from an insider.

Glad Ninja Tribunal has a set air date. It'll be nice to watch something on Saturday mornings again.

Without revealing any spoilers, is Season 5 as good as the trailer makes it look? I've heard some mixed opinions on it by the people who watched it awhile ago through "other means."

At least the animation looks nice.

It's a mixed bag. While it's probably the weakest season since the second (not counting Fast Forward), and there's a lot of awkward bits (most of the new characters could have used more development), it still has a lot cool stuff in it--moreso than other seasons.

A spoiler-free rundown:

The first act--The Ninja Tribunal to More Worlds Than One are all decent set-up episodes, and develops the new characters and status quo.

Episode 5.5, Beginning of the End, tries to be dramatic, doesn't really succeed, and is generally dissapointing--the potential is there, but it really could have been lots better.

Episode 5.7 is Membership Drive, which you've probably already seen.

The next couple of episodes are a two-parter called New World Order, and is the definite high point of the season, and maybe the series.

Fathers and Sons is decent--there's a plot element that's somewhat surprising, given the show's audience, but other than that, there's nothing special about it.

Past Present is filler, for the most part.

Finally, Enter the Dragons, is the big finale, and while there's a lot of good moments, the story as a whole is somewhat dissapointing.

All in all, it's probably better than Fast Forward, although I liked that season more than this one--this one reminds me too much of the worst aspects of Naruto for my tastes.

Despite the epic nature of the storyline, the same pitfalls that plagued the 2K3 series for most of its run are still present - cheesy dialogue, story points being redundantly rehashed, attempts to be edgy that are later nullified, etc. All the little annoyances the writers never fix. So it's certainly enjoyable and it slots in nicely as a finale to the 2K3 run, but don't expect it to rise dramatically above the quality of what came before.

Anyone remember when CN held back that episode of Justice League with the Injustice Gang team-up? Same deal.

Interesting. Ah well, I'm expecting a decent run anyway. Thankfully now that we know we're getting a Season 7 in the Fall, this isn't the last story arc of the series anyway.

If its more or less the norm for this series, good stuff but with some missed opportunities, then its pretty much worth watching. I know I'll probably enjoy it.
