4Kids TV Premiere- Chaotic: M'arillian Invasion Talkback (Spoilers)

So wow I don't get 4kids on Saturday like most here but instead Sunday so I can only comment on the first ep but yeah I'm loving the new animation. Clean, smooth, just all around gorgeous. Completely happy with it, now the only problem in my mind is that they don't seem to have a real plotline. In my mind action cartoons need that so until then I'll be constantly disappointed by things like Tom's a cheater storylines ending so quickly and so badly.

But the series of seemingly non-interconnected events is the only thing preventing "Perim being saved by a quartet of teens".

If we do get the real plot started Tom and his friends better not engage in matches that directly affect the course of the war.

I had never seen the original Chaotic except in the side to side comparison they showed to promote the new show. With that said, I enjoyed the Marillion Invasion, good animation, cool looking monsters and a simple to follow plot, this is a part of my new Saturday morning cartoon lineup!

I liked it, and I liked Tom's line to his opponent, when he wanted to tell Maxxor about his friend being turned into a Danian! "Well, what are you waiting for? Turn me into code, already!"

I'm fairly certain that this season is the third season of the series, there being 20 eps in each of the first two seasons.

I particularly liked the way it was shown how the Danians are able to transform a creature into one of their own. It reveals how the Danian Queen's sentence on the Mipedian spy (from the episode "Big Time" from last season, one of my faves) was carried out. Nice continuity. Definately one of my favorite series based on a card game, along with Magi-Nation. Actually, except for the different color palette, the new animation kind of reminds me of Magi-Nation's.

I'm still not totally sold on the animation style. The action scenes and monsters look great but the animation for the humans is a bit lacking.

Otherwise it's nice to see some continuity nods in these Perrim episodes. Next week is a "card battle" episode and it sounds same old, same old, but we'll have to see.

Production-wise this is the second season, with the first one consisting of the first 40 episodes. Broadcast-wise this is the third season, with the first one being 14 episodes and the second one being 26.

The main advantage Chaotic has over other card-game type shows is that a good chunk of the storyline takes place in a fantasy realm, and the show develops the world and the characters living in the world pretty well. I also like the fact that there is no 'bad guy.' All the tribes fight for their own survival.

I do agree that the show could be improved if it used more lengthy story arcs (the 'Maxxor loses his courage' storyline was my favorite part of the show so far), but I don't mind it that much. It's still somewhat enjoyable with one-shot stories.

But exactly how do you do that and prevent them teens from taking a big chunk of the credit? My answer is that they will take chunk no matter what.

However they can throw in less world shifting crisis and more stopping or securing the secret military operation.

One of my biggest fears of the M'arillain invasion" plot once it actually does start is that the humans will be immune to their mind control, and there for the only ones that could save the day.

A pretty standad episode. Far better then this seasons other chaotic battle episode but that's not saying much. I am happy that we are seeing older chaotic players though, ones that are clearly adults.

Well Next week is this seasons first two parter so maybe it will be a bit better. I am enjoying this series enough to watch it each week but it's still mainly fluff.

My interest in this show shrinks week after week. The animation in Marillion Invasion is awesome, but the story is weak. Next week is the shows final chance to keep me watching.
