4Kids To "Return To It's Roots" By Getting More Japanese Animation

It still gives me much more of a Bakugan vibe than Digimon. Though, it probably helps that four out of five of the characters, especially three of the boys, look so much like the characters from Bakugan.

Well, their most successful shows have usually been monster/toyetic series, so it really isn't surprising that they're going after some more. That's what has worked well with them in the past and they want to continue that success. People can watch a lot of monster shows if they enjoy them. Most of my favorite shows are monster/toyetic series.

I don't think that's just with the shows 4KiRAB has. Unless the show is specifically aimed at girls, like Sailor Moon or Power Puff Girls, there are usually more boys than girls on the main cast. It might have something to do with the mentality that boys wouldn't be interested in a series if there were a lot of girls in the series and/or it was girl focused show. It also goes along with the thought that boys wouldn't be interested in what's labeled girl shows. I find that kind of weird since I remeraber being more interested in what was labeled for boys when I was little, but that's beside the point.

As for more girl aimed shows, I believe that 4KiRAB did try that with a few shows, Magical DoRiMe, Bratz and Winx Club. They weren't that successful if I recall correctly. Winx Club came back due to being a hit on their website and fulfilling the E/I requirements. I'm not sure if they would be interested in girl shows, but it would give some diversity in their lineup.

I can see where you're coming from with those connections. Though, hopefully this series will have a better way to give equal, or close to equal, screentime/development for its characters than GX did. At the very least, they'll have more development than Chumley did. I thought that he was the most useless Yu-Gi-Oh! character yet.

That's true. The treatment and development of female characters is one of the things that I think 5D's has done a better job than both DM and GX. Most of the other toyetic anime series don't have their female characters contributing to the plot that often or having good character development. Pokemon AG, DP and I would argue Digimon Adventure 01, Tamers and possibly Frontier are the only other series that the girls have an active role and have at least some development.

I thought that was a big sign that he's a guy myself. Plus, the design on his face screams tough guy more than tough girl.

Syrus is my favorite character from GX too. He's such a nice and sensitive kind of guy.

I don't think that they would change the character's gender. The only time that did happen was with the Legend of Thunder special from Pokemon. They made one of the Team Rocket merabers females, most likely to keep the male and female meraber theme going on, but I don't recall them changing the genders of characters in any of their other series. They even kept Rally from 5D's as a boy, even though I still forget that he's a guy.

Honestly I only saw three episodes of Onmyo Taisenki so I couldn't know. I did like what I saw a lot. I just kinda lost the name and couldn't track down more episodes ^^;

As long as its as good as Dinosaur King and get some good merch sale it'll be good enough.

Is it me of their gizmo looks like a prototype for the Tensouder? -.-

If the show is animated in high definition there's more space for that HD master to be held on the Blu-ray, much more. Regular DVD can't handle high definition, so a lesser quality standard definition is created, then compressing that onto the DVD will lessen quality, creating pixelation, etc. etc.

In the end, it won't be the best if it's not on Blu-ray from a proper HD master from the producers of the animation.

Okay, the Chris Hansen joke was in bad taste. But Hanumaru Kindergarten isn't a show aimed at children, or family. Apparently it's a completely clean and innocent show. But that doesn't exactly make the target audience children, or their families. Kind of like a Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha, part of a genre that can be aimed at children, but that specific series itself isn't.

As for Blu-Ray, almost all things look better at a higher definition. Cell animation gets a big boost in quality if filmed at 1080p. In theory cell animation has an infinite resolution. The computer coloured animation produced at 1080p or higher, and then downscaled to 720p/720i, or 480p/480i does look nicer in a full HD resolution. Even computer stuff that was made in standard definition gets a boost in quality if upscaled. Funimation's upscales should still look better than the DVD version (unless their masters are completely trash). The only downside from the higher resolutions is that it magnifies any errors in the production.

Name changing is done for sake of marketing. Little kiRAB (The real target audience and not teens/adults from TZ) don't really mind one way or the other.

It's cheaper because you don't have to pay royalties for it, sign contracts, get the lawyers signing the papers, etc. It's much cheaper to pay a one time fee to a company to create your songs.

I Think Most Likely, that NEW Yu-Gi-Oh 10th anniversary movie will be on DVD and TV. Because not many anime movies come out to theaters anymore.

As for DVD hopefully 4KiRAB will have for the Yu-Gi-Oh (Original) and Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's in place in 2010, so they can release on DVD/Blu-ray to make alot of money in their home video cash reserves.

Smart Plan????

Thank goodness 4KiRAB are back into anime.

Series they need to get:

Gintama
Eyeshield 21
Finish Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
Reborn
Take Pokemon away from the clutches of Nintendo

Who gives a rat's butt if they edit stuff, at least what's not edited out will have professional voice acting and more the 1 product in stores.

First of all, that's already licensed on two fronts. Streaming and DVD.

Second, considering 4KiRAB does not release bilingual DVD's, the sales wouldn't really work out.

Third, Gintama is not toyetic, thus no sale to 4KiRAB

Fourth, have you actually watched an episode of Gintama?

I'm really curious as to how they'll handle Jaden in the movie myself. Considering that Jaden, at that point, is from after the events of season four, it would be kind of necessary to explain something about how he got there from the last dubbed episode of GX. Although, it would be a twist if they decided to continue dubbing GX, but I sadly doubt that will happen. Still, it would be a fun surprise.

I agree. Considering the poor sales from the merchandise and that they didn't have enough resources to make another season after BttS, I thought that selling it was a logical move on their part. It did give them a good amount of money and they weren't going to do that much with the license until the new movie.

I'm also curious as to how this 4sight will handle the new series. I'm sure that they'll get some toyetic series. I keep on wondering how Bakugan could have been useful/helpful to 4KiRAB if they got a hold of the license, so maybe they'll try to get something similar to that series. I also don't think that they'll have One Piece levels of edits for whatever these shows will be, if only because it would be too expensive for them right now. Plus, Dinosaur King doesn't have too many edits, so I could see them giving these new series the same treatment they gave to Pokemon and are currently doing so with Dinosaur King.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Why Funimation, why didn't you snag this away from them???!!

Im pretty sure that the Italian version of Doremi is taken from the original Japanese version not the 4KiRAB one.
I know they have some of the films, I have one on a disc somewhere... I really should watch that.

4kiRAB only dubbed the TV show didn't they? (We havent had doremi aired in the Uk yet)

I don't think that Funimation could have picked up the movie. 4KiRAB holRAB the license for the franchise, so they would be the only ones who could license this movie as well. No one tried to get the 5D's OVA when 4KiRAB didn't pick it up.
