4Kids Talkback: The Crossroads of Destiny - The 4Kids Discussion V10

I think the chances of having one new episode a week for the foreseeable future are pretty good. Granted, schedules can, and have, changed at the last minute, but I could see them keeping this schedule for awhile. I'm not so sure that they won't air new episodes in the summer. They've done that before with 5D's and since they've already acquired the rest of the series' episodes, I don't really see a reason for them to hold off for a few months, especially if Konami wants them to work on Zexal as soon as possible. As for the ratings issue, 5D's unfortunately hasn't done particularly well in its history on the block, regardless of the time it aired or the seasons, so I don't think that would be a strong enough reason for them to hold off on airing new episodes.

As for the dub staying a season behind, 4Kids actually started airing 5D's only five months after it premiered in Japan. So theoretically, they could still air Zexal sometime in the fall, especially if that second extra ten minutes for the anniversary movie is the sneak peek for Zexal dubbed. It would just depend of if/when they're able to have double premiers for 5D's or if they're able to dub both 5D's and Zexal at the same time. But I wouldn't be too surprised if Zexal would premier next spring either due to their financial status. I think it's a bit too early to tell either way, especially since 4Kids hasn't made any kind of announcement regarding Zexal, although it's practically guaranteed that they're going to license and dub it.

So, from what I briefly saw this morning, it seems they are indeed following the Funimation DVD arc names for this current run of Sonic X. Starting with episode 14, their advertisements have switched from the "New World Saga" to the "Chaos Emerald Saga".

I'm kind of curious how they're going to advertise them as next, though. The next batch of 13 was the "Chaos & Shadow Sagas", so I guess they could split them into just "the Chaos Saga" and "the Shadow saga", but the batch of 13 after that was the "Egg Moon, Emerl, & Homebound Sagas". Kind of silly to make special "Saga" advertisements for each of those that only last, like, a handful of episodes each, y'know?

And then what do they call the Meterex episodes? "The Season 5 Saga" and "The 'So Long, Sonic' Saga"?

For anyone who's interested, Sebastian Arcelus, who worked at 4Kids, most recently voicing Rex on Dinosaur King, is in the Broadway show "Elf."

From doing a little research, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will have Elf do a bit from it on Thursday morning.

So, if anyone has time (it's on towards the beginning), watch NBC on Thursday morning for him.

It's at 9AM -12PM in all time zones.

Three things to note:

1. It's only the NBC broadcast, not CBS.
2. If you live in the Detroit area, you're out of luck. The NBC station there does local news, that day, over the Today Show, until 9. Then, they air the local parade. I'm not sure if other affiliates do too.
3. NBC keeps saying that it's "live" even though it's not for almost every time zone, except Eastern time.

Oh, so they've replaced one of the 5D's airings with an original Yu-Gi-Oh! airing? Not surprising given the ratings. 11:30's practically a death slot though, not that 5D's at 11:00 was doing any better.

So they're airing the 5D's episode they skipped ("Mother Knows Best") on February 5, and I would imagine they'll air 93 the week after, but we'll have to see. Facebook said February 19 for the return of new episodes, but it was tentative so whatever.

Nah, I really have nothing to rant about and I don't consider myself ranting in my posts in the least, all I'm doing is basically just trying to figure out the thought process of 4Kids and why they don't try to fix the situation when they know they are in financial peril. But thanks for the suggestion man, video blog's is something I've been thinking about exploring but I don't know if I want to go in front of the camera, if anything it would be an audio blog or something. Still, my stance on 4Kids and their dilapitating brand still remains and until they take some chances and try to fix the issue they will always be inching closer to the cliff rather than building a new foundation for themselves.

I enjoyed both of those shows quite a bit, they were "must see" television for me when they aired. It's a shame that Huntik isn't going to have another season air unless someone else picks up the show which is highly unlikely, it really had a great deal of action and story to it for a Saturday morning cartoon even though it was slightly toyetic. Di-Gata Defenders has been long gone, but back when it was on 4Kids I was a pretty big fan of the show and I was hoping for a U.S DVD release, but to no luck of course.

That's true. I believe the limit for these threads is about 1000th posts before we create a new one. Though, I do like the positive vibe from Sgt.Frog's ideas for a new thread title, but we're not quite there yet.

I sort of think something like Chi's Sweet Home would be good for the block, its mostly kid friendly (bar a few toilet training episodes) and short, would be great filler? Cant really think of much recent anime thats kid friendly though :/

Maybe its just me but this current direction 4Kids has been heading in suggests to me Kahn lost the reigns a while ago as I don't suppose the guy himself would of been into the idea of Toonzaki and subbing thing. Suspect the company wont crash and burn *just* yet. Though pressure is on to try and do something soon before their main rivals blow them utterly out the water. Regardless whatever it is, anime or home-made, it needs to be something other than a 30 minute toy ad

I thought that might be the case, but I wasn't sure considering the claims that TV Tokyo and NAS have made and how unhappy I'm sure they are with 4Kids right now. While I do feel quite bad for the people working at 4Kids, I agree that it does look pretty unlikely for that to happen. Plus, I think that TV Tokyo and NAS are probably considering what companies they could give Zexal to for its English release. At least, I think that they'd want to do something like that after filing the lawsuit against 4Kids.

I meant Season 2 Episode 52. The episode "A New Threat, Part I" was given a production code of 201 at the beginning of the season in September. 4Kids used to dub their shows with 52 episodes in each season, but I'm not sure if that's the case for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's this season as there were 64 episodes in Season 1. It's entirely possible that premieres could continue throughout the entire summer.

That's an interesting development. Considering their legal problems with the Yu-Gi-Oh! license and the fact that they haven't revealed too much for this show, I was starting to suspect that they wouldn't dub this show. Still, it's nice to hear that Veronica Taylor is playing one of the leads in Tai-Chi Chasers. She's my favorite voice actress out of the group of voice actors 4Kids uses, so I'd watch this show just to see which character she'll play and if she'll provide her Ash or May voice for them. I've only really liked Bella Hudson with playing Akiza from 5D's and while it still can be too high pitched during some of her duels, I think that the voice fits pretty well. If she does turn out to be in the show, perhaps she'll do a good job with this character as well.

That's too bad about the Funimation forums. Since they have so many anime titles, I'm surprised that they closed down their forums, but it might have been too expensive for them to keep at this point.

There could be a new action edition in the near future actually. Manga UK recently picked up Fairy Tail, which most likely means someone in the US has the license. Funimation is the best bet, so it;s possible they'd work with 4 Kids for a Toonzai airing of the dub, since it's smarter to market it towards kids.

I agree it's something they should do at some point, but for now their focusing on anime licensing because it's more affordable, and I prefer they do that until they have the money to finance their own shows again, because at the moment it would be far too great a risk.

I do believe that they may have picked up some new stuff though. The fact that they were able to acquire so many Crunchyroll shows for Toonzaki as of late, shows that they are putting whatever money their making off of ratings onto getting new stuff.

I still think your ignoring the fact 4kids, are looking for new shows and don't have the money for all that stuff at once let alone just so suddenly.

For shows, I could see One Piece, Sgt.Frog, and Dragon Ball airing on, Toonzai. Dragon Ball is like a fighting show with Sonic X like humor in it and other jokes. Sgt.Frog is a comedy anime, which is doing well in Japan and has a English dubbed 52 episodes. One Piece is similar to Dragon Ball Z Kai in terms of characters, action, adventure, and comedy.
