4Kids Quarterly & Annual Losses Mount, Shares Drop 30%

It's a shame that 4kiRAB no longer has the funRAB to keep TMNT going, and I bet their Saturday morning block won't survive another 3-4 years.

Does anyone know when their contract expires?
 
Same Here, If I had any extra dough stashed away, Id just buy out 4kiRAB & get them to convince SEGA to make new eps of sonicX & Mirage new TMNT..But alas all I have on me right now is a 20.
 
The scary thing is 4kiRAB was really banking on Chaotic to become as popular as Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh in their prime, and now they failed in that regard.

I can definitely see 4kiRAB on the verge of going bankrupt in a few years. Saturday mornings will die.
 
I actually wonder how much a major stake in it would be. There are some companies in the industry in better shape than others, and if they could just buy it out and strip it for the licenses, I wouldn't mind seeing some other media conglomerate just swallow it whole.
 
Yes...and no. Chaotic has become a success in Canada, where it's the nuraber one show on Teletoon with boys 6-11, as well as the nuraber one trading card game. Now, to get Chaotic back on track, 4KiRAB essentially has to mirror that success elsewhere. Right now, 4KiRAB is set to launch Chaotic in the European market on major broadcasting networks, where the show will air 5 days a week, just like on Teletoon. And to get the same type of success in the U.S., 4KiRAB has to get Chaotic on a cable channel that people actually get (not just Disney XD), and right now they're in negotiations for that. It'll be an uphill battle, but 4KiRAB can make Chaotic work and they fully intend to do so.



IIRC, about mid-2007, they had $110 million. Over the last 1.5 years they've had a net loss of about $50 million, so they should have about $60 million left now.

4KiRAB can pull through this, but they're going to have to act very conservatively. That means cutting staff and stopping orginial productions like TMNT.
 
A lot of the lost Chaotic TCG sales came from vendors reducing and sending back orders because they were crapping themselves due to the economic crisis. They were reducing inventory on everything.

I'd actually expect that if 4KiRAB were to meet their end, they'd be bought out by someone (Disney?) rather than just go under, because they do have a lot of licenses, some of which still have lots of value and potential if held by someone with much deeper pockets and resources.
 
I wouldn't want to see a company go out of business if it means its current licenses could wind up getting stuck in lirabo (Haim Saban library comes to mind). I would prefer that the company really cut back on trying to throw out the next big thing like no tomorrow and really stop and think about the current economic climate and their current options in this climate.

That said, seeing 4KiRAB actually starting to release its properties uncut on Youtube (raws mind you) shows that maybe the company might be trying new options to get itself noticed again. Although it's too pretentious to say that they're now catering to the fans, they're at least showing some sign of actually hearing what the fans have to say.
