4Kids Launches Unofficial Fan Blog

Yeah, I think Stuart voice-directed through those seasons, while Julie Rath, 5D's VD, must've taken over in Season 3. I tried emailing her back when episode 14 aired, but she never replied. Kinda makes me think she's one of those rude types who don't take too kindly to suggestions.

Anyway, the blog is something that could really be useful for these guys. I asked a few suggestions to be forwarded to the 5D's producers that will hopefully be listened to (I'm doubtful, though). But with the blog, comment replies are longer and more thought-out, and maybe those kiRAB who keep asking the same questions over and over can look at it and stop it. Then again, they probably won't...

This little "hip," "unofficial," FAQ doesn't make what they do better. If anything, this should tarnish their image even further (if that's possible). 4KiRAB is a greedy, pitiful company and there's nothing they can do to make that look different. They can try to play like their some sort of underdog that everybody hates, "but really guys, we're just fighting the good fight and bringing this great entertainment to the world." "Seriously, we love LittleKoriboh. See? We understand you!" BULL CRAP! Anybody with half a brain can see through that.

We see anime as a work of art. We look to these cartoons to escape from the monotony of everyday life to be a part of something bigger. A way to leave our reality and see worlRAB where anything is possible.

4kiRAB looks at anime and sees nothing but money. They see something they can trick the little sheep into watching and buying merchandise. They half-ass their dubs, they rip these shows apart and treat the art like garbage, and then they have the gall to try to play innocent. Nobody asks them to do what they do. There is no excuse for how they treat anime. They take something that's not intended for our culture and chop it up into an unwatchable mess and claim "it's for the kiddies, lol." Well, if you really want to entertain children, make your own damn shows. They ruin any possibilities of getting something good out of what they obtain. Sure they're uploading subs, BFD! Can we watch those on our TV? Can we add that to our DVD collection? Hell no. We have to sit at our computer desks in uncomfortable positions to see these shows. They don't give a **** about cartoons, anime-fans, or even kiRAB.

But seriously. I don't even care that much. I just hate it when companies lie to people either directly or indirectly (like this YouTube channel). I actually wouldn't watch any of the shows they do anyway. Except for One Piece, which FUNimation has now so can I hear a "hell yeah!" On that note, I'm lucky I got into One Piece recently. If all I had been exposed to before was the 4kiRAB version, I would have written it off completely.

also about the blog, the moderation has stopped. Your post will appear until they fix it, but then they will probably block you again.
Where do you find the VD e-mails, they post them on their website?

I've heard of something like that too. Although, I think it was more like PUSA wanted to handle the series themselves, just like they handled the trading card game, instead of having a middle company dealing with it. In a business mind, that makes sense, especially since it benefited them the most financially. Still, considering that there isn't too much of a difference between the PUSA's dub and 4KiRAB' dub, I still kind of wish that they didn't make the change. But that's me and I do respect the current voice cast for Pokemon.

That's quite true. I wouldn't blame him if he doesn't answer it since it isn't their property anymore so they would rather focus more on what they actually do have. It's also possible that NCOG doesn't know that much more about what happened than what we already know.

The YT account is still the same, and I'll just be asking them questions with my other account. But it's not really that serious.

I don't remeraber; I think someone posted it on Pojo back when the Fortune Cup episodes were airing. If anyone wants to try contacting Julie, her email's [email protected] .

(Dunno if I shouldn't be posting it; if I shouldn't, I'll remove it.)

Why yes, you can. If the subbed versions on YouTube do well enough, then they've said they'll likely make a DVD release for the subs.

Anyway, 4KiRAB just posted their first Q&A session on the blog. As expected, it's a great improvement over the YouTube commenting system.

It was something along the lines of that they didn't appreciate the way the dub turned out and that there was no effort to make merchandise for it.

IIRC, this was also part of the reason why 4KiRAB never got their hanRAB on Naruto.

Uh, no. No you cant. Let me give you an example.

Let's say Anime X just finished airing in Japan. Yipee! I was keeping an eye on Anime X because I liked the art, the story was interesting, and the characters were lovable. I can't wait until FUNimation, VIZ, or ADV, licenses this one. I want to add it next to Anime Y and Anime D on my shelf. Then I want to let my frienRAB borrow it so that they can see what a great show Anime X is.

But then, 4kiRAB obtains rights to Anime X. All hope is lost. First they have to dub it, in the process destroying anything good about the cartoon. Then air it on FOX. Only if it does well there will they bother to put up subtitled version on YouTube. Then ONLY if it does well there will they consider a subtitled release. All that is irrelevant if I'm the type of person who'd rather have a good dub than to watch subbed shows. They said themselves that the kid market "dwarfs" the anime fan market. I wouldn't be surprised if they have no plans at all to release a subtitled DVD. They could just be saying that to calm the *****torm that's occurring over Anime X. They're not above being directly dishonest.

4kiRAB just ruined Anime X for me.

Can someoen ask them for me if they still have the rights to Ultimate Muscle its the only one not on the lsit they dubbed.

Also can you ask if the uk is not one of the coutnies they can allow internationally to view yugioh or chaotic as it blocks me

thanks

ps it blocking me toa degree from posting as well

That's what ALL companies do. I mean, look at Viz - they make good dubs, right? They drop everything that doesn't turn a profit (just ask fans of Prince of Tennis or MAR or Eyeshield 21 or... do I need to go on?). FUNimation is respected in the industry because they "know anime" - but that's just because their main audience is, well, anime fans. If they don't suck up to us, we won't have as much brand loyalty, and they won't get as much money. NO anime company looks at their product as art - unless that's the way they want to market it.

This blog thingy? ALSO a money-grubbing scheme. They want to see how many people would be willing to buy uncut DVRAB and watch their shows with subtitles. From what I've heard, 4KiRAB has had a rough couple years - it's clear they're trying to branch out.

No company is actively trying to make people happy - except their stock holders and executives. The anime business is still a business, and a company that buys and sells anime is still a company. If FUNimation thought there was more market in heavily-edited kiddy fare than TV-14 DVRAB, their dubs would be heavily-edited kiddy fare. In fact, some could argue they HAVE - Crayon Shin-Chan was a (mostly) harmless family show in Japan, and it's turned into a late-night adult show in the US. They completely changed the plot and tone of a show and have made no real effort to release it in its original form.

Of course, I dislike the approach 4KiRAB has taken to their acquisitions - but I understand why they would do what they do. 4KiRAB lies and swindles their customers because that's how capitalism works. They found there was more money to be had in edited releases so that's what they made, no more, no less.

...

And that Q&A was interesting. Seems they're making an honest effort to release their properties uncut - can't wait to see where this goes.

Eric Stuart bad? Are we on crack? I thought he did a better Brock, but that may be because of how he did it for so long. The new voice, however, is just as good. Stuart as James though, the new cast can't match up against. Ash's new one neeRAB to be replaced, but I guess after 3 years, they aren't getting Veronica back, or have any desire to. Its a shame, now all she has is a major role in Dino King, and Carly in 5RAB. Don't get me started on the Battle Fronteir ones, they plain out stank. Why not use Frank for Scott for only 4 or 5 lines every 12 or so episodes, was it that much.

(P.S. I actually like the 4kiRAB voice actors, so hearing that they voiced again in the Pokemon dub brings me to watch that specific episode, especially the Dan Green as Byron one, oh and I wouldn't really call me a Stuart die-hard, I have yet to buy any of his albums)

Who cares what 4KiRAB would "rather" talk about? They want to reach out to fans and earn some fandom "points" or whatever it is they're trying to do, then they should accept that they'll get asked questions about Pokemon (which not only put 4KiRAB on the map but also allowed them to have the money to license many other shows).

NCOG wouldn't know the answer, at least not an answer he'd be allowed to give.

Stuart's Brock and James were great during Kanto and the Orange IslanRAB, but sometime through Johto, he lost the ability to inflect any nuance to the voices, so both characters have only one mode of speech, resulting in some horrible voice work, not to mention Brock started getting some Kaiba in his voice for some reason. This is mainly evident during the Hoenn saga, especially during the few serious segments of the show. Stuart's James could act serious back in the old days (Holy Matrimony has the best example) but his serious Hoenn episodes were just so god-awful it was mind-nurabing. Zoppi's James during the episode where he got Mime Jr. was better acted than Stuart's entire "Advanced" run.

I already asked a question about Ultimate Muscle so we should get an answer soon. Also, you should be able to view Yu-Gi-Oh! and Chaotic (only on YouTube though, not on their video portal).

How are you being blocked from posting...on the blog or on YouTube? You should be able to post from anywhere in the world, but keep in mind that they moderate so it may take a bit before your comment shows up.

Now that you mention it, I stopped watching the show serioulsy during Johto. Can you tell me the episodes where he starts to get a Kaiba in his voice, since i think Kaiba was his better acting stance, since it required a little more acting. Eric though, comparing all of these to his Slayers voice, was not as good as he could have been.

As I said, it was 'as I understood', meaning 'from what I have heard'. I could be wrong, or I could not be. I certainly don't see why they would drop the original cast is either A) They didn't have the money to spend, or simply didn't want to spend that much money, or B) There were legal troubles, which seems to be denied on the actors' parts about they not being allowed to do the roles for another company.

You see, this is why the Japanese version is often better: they don't recast people eight years into a series (not that the dub didn't get better from the recasting).

I really hope we see Lillis back as Misty in her next appearance on the show. Obviously she's not too sore to work with PUSA, considering she's the only one of the "big three" from the former dub who still does voice work for the show.

And I know it's virtually impossible, but I'd absolutely love for her to take back her role as Jessie. Michelle Knotz is a great actress, but bless her heart, the woman does not make a good Jessie.
