4Kids Entertainment Lays Off About 15% of Workforce

I wonder if this will effect any of the voice actors. Most of them are freelance and aren't technically 4kids employees, but I wonder if 4kids will be cutting down on their voice acting pool just because of this?

As much as I really hate 4Kids with a flaming passion, this is really depressing news for their non-freelance workers. It was also depressing to hear that one of their workers died recently and that was the lady who voiced Meowth in the early Pokemon dubs.:(

The compassionate part of me says: I feel for these guys and I hope that this does not affect them horribly. I hope they find a job soon and I hope that their families are secure enough. My heart goes out to them as I too know how it feels to lose a job.

The fanboy in me says: This better not affect Kamen Rider and future installments in any way. Also, try to see if FUNimation is hiring or something. KAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHN...may be in trouble LOL.

That joke is so over associated with 4kids haters that I still can't help but laugh at it, and I haven't even watched a full episode of Star Trek. Hell when Kahn made his "Anime is dying remark" that what I said when he said that.

Though it is sad to see people lose their jobs, especially in this time.

Not a surprise. Their stock is about at $2 per share.

I'm sure FUNi and Viz are going to have themselves a ball picking up the licenses in the 4Kids vault once they file Chapter 11.

This is a shame to hear. It's never a good thing to be laid off, especially during this time of year. I hope that those people and their families will be okay and that they'll be able to find new jobs soon.

And what? See it go through the same "Viz holds onto titles to no end" clause? No, rather see most of the shows being dubbed by Funimation even IF they distributed the DVDs with 4Kids. Maybe the new DVDs will be uncut.
