4Kids DVD Talkback: An Unknown Distributor in 2010

As you all aware, on December 8,2008, FUNimation dropped the Distribution for Yu-Gi-Oh. Therefore, not getting the Distribution Rights to Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's. However 4Kids left 3 shows with FUNimation, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Sonic X, and Winx Club.


It's now been 1.5 years since they have not found a distributor as of yet. In my prediction they MIGHT find a Distributor by April/May/June of 2010.

If found a Distributor this what they might do 2010 DVD Future Releases:

• Yu-Gi-Oh The Complete 4th Season (6 Discs, 40 Full Episodes)

• Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's Welcome to the Fortune Cup Part 1 (2 Discs, 13 Episodes)

Actually, TMNT is owned by Viacom, so Paramount has the DVD rights.

I thought 4Kids owned the rights to the 2003,Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers, just like how Fred Wolf films owns the rights to the 80's series and Saban/Disney owns the rights to Next Mtuation?

I'm surprised that FUNimation would drop dustribution rights to a series as popular as Yu-Gi-Oh. It probably doesn't sell as well as Dragon Ball Z, but one would figure that a series like Yu-Gi-Oh would sell better than a good amount of the other stuff that FUNimation has the rights to.

However, since 4Kids Entertainment owns the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh in America, I guess they get more profit from DVDs sales than FUNimation. I also guess that FUNimation wasn't happy with the amount of profit they were receiving from the Yu-Gi-Oh DVDs, and dropped the distribution rights to it.

They'll need more Kiby & Viva Pinata DVDs
& some of GoGoRiki.

I believe that 4Kids lost the rights to Kirby just a few months ago. I agree that Viva Pinata and GoGoRiki need some DVD releases. Both of them are really enjoyable, but I'm not sure how well they would do in terms of sales.

After both Imavision and Shout! Factory picked up Dinosaur King and Viva Pinata, I was hoping they (S!F) would be picking up more of the 4Kids titles (Imavision has also released YGO! GX, Winx Club, Ninja Turtles and Chaotic DVDs) but it looks like that wont be the case sadly!

Last i heard 4Kids was looking for International rights to Yu-Gi-Oh Franchise, so my guess they are NOT giving up on finding a US DVD Distributor for the 4Kids Series.
