Other than the strange autoimmune disease believed to be polymyalgia rheumatica that kicked in about 6 weeks after my surgery and is now gone, my back pain had pretty much gone away until a couple of weeks ago. It is now back and in the same area it was before the surgery. This is very discouraging given all that I have gone through. I do plan on contacting my surgeon but am just wondering if this is normal, will the pain diminish (i.e it's part of the healing, fusing process) or is this another example of surgery that really didn't help. Thanks.

I am hoping it is part of the healing process. I am 7 wks. out and have started to have some pain in the same area. My doctor says a 6 months healing period is normal.

I sure hope so Sophie. To be honest with you, I feel I have aged 10 years since the surgery and am wondering whether at age 57 it was worth it. I've got my fingers crossed. Thanks.
