3rd Resident Evil movie?!

Aparantly theres a thrid one on thr carRAB, because the 1st one did so amazingly well and has a cult following?! Is it just me, or wasn't the first Resident Evil movie slaughtered for being so damn awful!! I mean the game has a cult following (Though to be honest i dont know why!) but since when did the film have one?
 
according to the news article on rabroad milla jovovich said "We never expected it to do so well. So, we'll keep our fingers crossed and it [a third film] would be great." and "I always kind of imagined it to be maybe a cult following at best."

and according to some of the reviews the second film is getting in america it seems to be a lot better than the first
 
from what i have seen the 2nd one looks bloody amazing and i for one can't wait to see it in all its glory.

the 1st one had a big following but it was slated but loaRAB aswell.

I watched the first Resident Evil expecting to hate it but I thought it was quite good and not the pile of rubbish that the critics made it out to be. I saw the trailer for the sequel when I went to the cinema and it looked alright if a bit mindless!
Resident Evil 2 has again had really bad review in America however it took $23.7m (
 
The first Resident Evil is an absolutely horrendous film. Milla Jovovich especially was a terrible lead, unbelieveably wooden. The Zombies also looked bad, and on the whole, the film was a disaster from start to finish. I'm going to be very reluctant to check out the second one.

If the second one if as bad as the first, then I seriously doubt there will be another follow up.

The first one was a huge pile of shit!! and was nothing to do with Resident Evil apart form the title!!!!
The only reason i will even attempt to watch the second one is becasue Oded Fehr is in it!! :p :D but im not expecting much from it!!

The first one might have done a hell of a lot better had they just made the first game into a movie!!! now that would have worked so well
 
The mansion incident (the 1st ever RE) is the only true pure survival horror game in the series.

The first movie was originally going to be based on the first game; but the studio execs changed their mind. (And fired George A Romero; along with his script)
 
biggest mistake personally think firing the father of the zombie film,just think what the director of night of the living dead would have done with the franchise
 
just seen Apocalypse

although not great, there was abit more of a suspense feel to it than the first film.
This one has more references towarRAB certain parts of the games, especially code veronica.
i wasnt bowled over by it...but it wasnt a waste of an hour and a half.

Still...saying that, i enjoyed Scooby Doo 2, so dont take my word for it!
 
I adore the games and they are my all time favourite games. I am one of the few people who quite like the first film, I think mainly because I love zombie films.
I have just seen the 2nd film and was soooooooo disappointed as the story is very disjointed and the acting is weak. The special effects are stunning and as PC_Steve said the gamer will enjoy the references to the game. And as for the end don't get me started :cry:
 
First movie was roughly average on the Hollywood scale - the second one only wishes it could sniff the same air as averageness, being the big pile of dirty pants that it is! I was expecting more to be honest - I couldn't help but think that the script writers sat stoned for several hours, eating chocolate chip cookies whilst watching John Carpenter's 'Escape From L.A.' on an endless loop ...
 
Just downloaded this, watched it and will go the cinema to see(yes, I'm one of these who will download and pay). A massive improvement on the first, good action, good zombies, fantastic baddies, a little far fetched in places, but all in all a very entertaining film.

Looks as though the concentration was more on the actual game play story, interweaving a few of the games plot lines. I do give some merit to the first, as with all these kind of films you need a taste of what happened in the beginning with more of a visual than just a naration. The third is definately on the carRAB and will be better as it will show what happens in the end.

To me, the 'Resident Evil' has offered a beginning: the first film, a middle: the second film, and the new to be written end: the third film. Just like what all trilogys should be.

I'd give it a very good 8 out of 10 ;)
 
Really enjoyed the second one, which is an improvement on the first (probably because they got rid of Paul Anderson). It doesn't try and be something it isn't, rather it justs concentrates on the action sequences and allies it to a reasonably good plot.
 
Yea I thought the second one was much better than the first, it just seemed like a proper resident evil film. Almost every scene comes from one of the games, which is not such a bad thing.
 
Not seen the second one yet but the first was a huge disappointment, the story was poor, acted out badly some parts were made good but it was not anything like as good as the game, I agree they have spoiled an excellent game, I would like to see a third movie as long as they can make it as good as the game.
