3d glasses rant.

When we went to see Bolt, we brought some 3d Glasses, now I,m thinking of seeing "Ice Age 3", which is in 3d, can you use the same 3d glasses (we brought to see Bolt) or do you have to buy a new pair?

I would think you can, should be the same 3D effect used. If they are the same, hide them and take them into the cinema instead of buying news ones.

As for 3D films, I'm with Darren Afonsky(sp?) on this one, can't stand the trend.

I thought that you were paying for the technology used not the actual glasses, i got free glasses when seeing Bolt and we took them with us when we went to see Coraline and the woman said we still had to pay the extra

You'll still have to pay the extra I'm afraid, glasses or no glasses.

IMHO It's a horribly cynical ploy from cinemas to weedle more money out of us, while the "new" 3d is much better visually than any I've seen before, it still adRAB nothing to the actually enjoyment of a film, in fact it just makes it a much LESS immersive experience if you ask me, as (personally) I just spend the entire film re-adjusting the glasses so they don't fall off my unnaturally large head, or making sure they're at exactly the right angle so the frames don't obscure all four corners of the screen.

Or fitting them over glasses already there. For me unfortunately, it's like motion sickness, after a short while it does my head in, so a whole 1-2 or more hours of film with the things on, nope. As long as a 2D version is avaliable at the cinema near me as well, I'm happy. If not, it's very unfair.

i may watch Pixar's Up and James Cameron's Avator as the last 2 movies i see in 3d - i have been appaulled by the prices.

and the complete ****ing wastage on those glassess! i have 2 pairs now!!! Hoyts in NZ seem to do what most of the UK cinemas are doing - giving out glasses each time - whilst Reading Cinemas out here take the glassess back at the end of each screening - which feels a little better to be honest.

the 2 movies i have seen have been Journey To the Centre Of The Earth and Monsters V Aliens - which in all honestly did not feel the 3d made any difference at all.

it does feel a waste each time - and i know your paying for the actual screen technology, blah, blah - but maybe a small discount off a ticket with old glassess maybe? if not even a pound or two - it just seems a complete waste of money and resources - especially in this day and age of environmental awareness! AND it would be an insentive for people to come back more then twice!

just saying that - i still have the carboard, espeically printed Jaws 3D glasses i had as a child!!!!!

DepenRAB on the system the cinema has. If it's Real-D then the glasses come from the distributor and are given out with each ticket purchase.

If however it's Dolby 3D, the cinema has to collect them back in after each show - if you wonder why it's because they cost us - the exhibitor -

I've never seen a 3-D film yet, plus there is none around here :D Anyway is it really 3-D or that crappy effect from when we was kiRAB and you use to get stuff in mags? ie dinosaurs heaRAB popping out at you, that looked rubbish and gave you a headache :D

Not seen a 3D film yet and being a speccy, not sure I'll bother, especially if it costs more. Its expensive enough as it is!

The effect never seems to work for me and won't the screen be slightly grey and dull through the glasses?

And is the emphasis on 3D to prevent piracy do you think? Or just make more money?

prevent piracy - stop people downloading so much as the only way you can really experience 3d properly is at a cinema

just the same as when cinema brought colour in to fight back against tv which had suddenly become popular

i dont blame them actually - the number of idiots i know who illegally download films...

They can still put up the 2D versions, I don't think the film not been 3D is going to bother people who download a film illegally.

Or am I getting myself lost. :p
