3800 Buick LaSabre Engine ?

i am buying a 01 lesabre whith the 3800 engine which only has 5900 miles on it and older man and women have passed away. but when i checked the oil it barely had a drop in it since then there daughters husband had the oil changed and the mechanics said there are not any visible leeks. should i be worried about it burning oil with only 5900 miles?
 
yes you should be worried and you should be very concerned about only having 5900 miles on a 01 car that's a little strange. no car should be that low on oil for any reason so proceed with caution
 
I have this same car and it has 115, 000 miles on it. My son has a 98 Grand Prix with the same engine 150,000 miles on it. I would not worry in bit. It is probably just low from absorption and setting. If you change the oil and the engine sounds good and has plenty of power then I would not worry. It is a very strong engine and drive train in those GM products if properly maintained.
