360 problems?

I just bought a 360 yesterday...
When I went to put it on, the power button had a red light flashing on it, and on the screen it said something in like 7 languages, the message was to contact microsoft for problems.
I restarted the system and it worked fine while I played gears of war.
Today I tried to play it again, and I put the power on - there was nothing on the TV. I restarted it and it worked fine again.

Anyone have problems like this?
Is this a problem, cause if so, I'm going to go exchange it from the store. I really don't want to have a system that breaks down after the warranty is up.

Make sure none of your video connections are loose, specifically the one that plugs into the 360. If it's loose/out you will get a flashing red ring around the power button.

all of the connections are tight
the weird thing is, it never turns on properly the first time
something always happens, and when i start it again, it plays
and i just found out that ghost recon (which came with it) doesnt even work
keeps getting a disc error
im gonna go back to the store and try to get a replacement
this really sucks...i was really excited about getting this system

on a side note, what do you do with all the "acheivement points" that you get from playing different games?

I tried flipping it vertically, but ghost recon just isn't working.
The store I bought it from said a lot of people had problems with GRAW. Probably a crappy batch for boxing day, although my friend's system worked flawlessly.
Anyways, I exchanged the system, and the red light doesn't come on anymore. However I didn't get to exchange GRAW, so that still doesn't work, but they tested it on other 360's so it's the disc that's defective.
Lotta problems with this thing....it's making me worried

get it from microcenter and save 200. if it shits out on you, you can pretty almost make your money back from selling the hard drive, controller, headset, and cables.

the achievement points don't earn you anything. it's basically for self-satisfaction and so you can compare your gaming skills to others (if you bring up someone's gamertag you can compare your games with each other).

had mine since launch day, not a single problem yet, not one red light or anything. if your gettin a red light already and disc errors, id say swap for a new one.

I wouldnt hear about it so much if that were the case. I have two diffrent friends right now who had to ship off there 360.. for $400 that shouldnt happen.

I got an email yesterday from microsft telling me cause of my launch console they have given me an extended 1 year warrenty 2 bad last weekend it fucking died and i "exchanged" it at costco

The first thing you should do is to update the firmware and Dashboard software to the latest version. Most of those types of problems are then solved.
