Not worth it.

Lets be honest it is $99, not a few hundred, it has sat unused for over 2 years, it might not even last a week. Has it been adapted in any way.?

For $99 I would get a 4100 then you have Dolby 5.1 output.

Then sell the 3100 on E-Bay, get some money bcak.

I had five 3100s that were not on my account when the account swap started. I activated them one at a time removing it after I got the new card. All were previous generation cards.

I was not charged $0.01 cent for the new cards and they are all now back on the shelf as spares. They were purchased just before the 9242 was released and before I got the cables run the 9242 was available. They came out of the 3150 packages (two 3100s and a dish/LNBF) for $79. I actually got one activated before the 9242 became available and then just bought the 9242s (I have four of them).

I had intended three of the 3100s to be used for viewing and three to be hooked up to DVD recorders as a cheap man's PVR. Then I got an offer from Bell and bought the first three 9242s for $299 each on a deal direct from Bell because of a screwup on 5900s (another story!!!!!).

Exactly what I did with my 3200.

But those 3100's of yours had the previous generation of Smart Cards, the OP's are an older version than that.

I agree with True. It OK for bell not to send out a card to receivers that were not used since the previous card as they most likely been tossed, because they no longer work . But once you find out this is not the case don't try to extort extra money from your customer

Is that Bell saying give us $99 and we don't care if you are pirating TV? I don't know anything about pirating but would the only one interested in paying over the market price for a card be the one that has invested in piracy.

True, I have a 3500 which had the Original "DISH NETWORK EXPRESSVU" card from when the first satellite was at 107.3West Anik. I hooked it up, verified it was getting a signal, and was able to watch the Bell info channels. If you are able to do this, you will be able to down load the new software, leave it undesturbed for a couple of hours, say over night. If it does download the new software, and is new card ready. Just add it to your account and if they treat you like they did me, they will send you a new card free of charge!

Are you saying that you went from the old Dish Network Canada Card directly to the new S06.?

It went from Old DishNetwork Canada/Expressvu card to S04 Card, earlier this year then a S06 card in October as I remember, but it was a different card, than the rest of my rcvrs., and probably hadn't been used for 6 or more years. I may have tossed the card, but I'll check for SC series# in my records.
