'300'

Oh, and the Scottish accent thing... it's weird, whenever I've read anything about Thermopylae (the 300 comics, Steven Pressfield's book Gates Of Fire, Herodotus' Histories) I've always imagined Leonidas as Sean Connery, and I have no idea why. I can only assume the casting director of this movie has the same thing I do.

It's my degree specialism. Trust me, they were a greek state (polis), and they did*.

(*Like anywhere, there were regional variations - there's is known as 'doric greek')

i went and saw this recently and thought it was an outstanding movie! The art style was amazing and the fight scenes were top notch. I thought it was way better than kingdom of heaven/troy and as good as gladiator. Despite the obvious historical inaccuracys it is a very entertaining movie, and it focuses on an era you dont really hear much on(more focus on romans - i would really like to see more movies like this of the greeks etc.) Really got to admire the bravery of those soldiers(yes i know that there was in reality a lot more than 300 but there was over 2 million persians which was just an army that was unrivaled at the time)

Defenitly the first must see movie of the year! would reccomend it to anyone.

I went to see it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes it is historically inaccurate, but it isn't based on historical fact, its based on a graphic novel, yes it looks fabulous, yes it is a bit silly at times, and yes there is a lot of buff male torso on show.

What's not to like?

I know Mark Kermode was fairly scathing, but he has a job to do, as a critic. I merely go to watch films for pleasure, and I find rows or gleaming sixpacks thoroughly enjoyable.

:D :D

Saw this today.

Thought visually it was amazing - the sepia palette, the use of close-up, the slow-mo/fast thing. Battle scenes stunning, liked the use of a narrator, thought the acting was pretty much excellent - lots of emotional glances rather than hackneyed protestations of love.

Slightly spoiled for me by the physical imperfection = evil thing. I know the Spartans were big on physical perfection, but I thought the Immortals, the beserker giant etc pushed the image too far.

On the whole, though - exciting, sexy and gripping.

300 Very good film. Although it does tend to lend its self of other films in a similar genre. I give it it 7.5 out of 10. Def worth seeing on the big screen

A fun film to watch although it lacks historical depth. The transexual asians made me laugh. I doubt they were about in those days. It would have been more believable if they were eunuchs.

Loved it

Not as much as Sin City but Still Loved it.

Good Story
Good Fight Scenes
Gory but believable Violence
Good Characters

Brilliant Film.

Just watched it last night and hubby and son loved it. It wasn't really my cup of tea and TBH I much preferred Braveheart :o

The fighting scenes reminded me of Lord of the Rings...they were excellent. But the storyline kind of left me yawning whilst hubby and son were gaping wide eyed at the screen in some kind of amazement.
