Just watched this movie could have been better. It had some good special effects and gore.
What i couldnt get over is the skinny monk from van helsing has obviously been in the gym none stop pumping iron ( he narrated too) .

That's where I'd seen him before!

Anyway, I thought the film could have been better.
I think I was expecting more after loving Sin City so much.
I thought 300 was a cross between Troy and LOTR!

Just because both comics are by the same writer, it has no bearing on how good the film will be. thats just silly. You dont expect a Fantastic 4 film to be on the same level as Spider-man, just because Stan Lee wrote both comics. Ridiculous...

I think you have every reason to expect them to be of a comparable quality - especially as they are pretty damned faithful (often frame for frame) adaptions. I suspect the weakness in the plots for 300 lie in fact the movie was adapted from a run of 5 comics, whereas the first Sin City was made from around 16 comics. There was much less padding in Sin City (such as the addition of the 'meanwhile in Sparta' scenes in 300 which were not really in the original comics). Plus, the acting was iffy in places which was completely out of Mr Miller's hanRAB (unless he was involved in casting, of course). Either way, the guy's comments were far from ridiculous.

clutching at straws, only fan boys would expect something that good. Sin City set the bar too high. Plus Sin City is a completly different property.

I was disappointed too.

Some of the script was woeful and the acting was pretty embarasing in spots.
It had it's moments though and as a blockbuster popcorn movie it was entertaining enough. I laughed loaRAB, though I'm not sure I was supposed to

I just don't get the Gladiator comparissons??

It has none of the depth of character or plot or performance or Heart. to my mind it's much more like a poormans LOTR, though again without the depth.

Well worht going to all the same. there are worse ways of spending a few hours of your life!!

I think it was visually close to Gladiator (obviously), but it borrowed the hand in the corn field bit and also the fighting and political subplots were pretty close.

Thought it was a bit boring storywise, but then again that's the historical story what are you supposed to do?
