30 Days of Night on Bravo

Flicking thru the channels at my brothers last night we spotted that 30 Days of Night was on.

It's on again tonight at 9ish.

We were a bit surprised that Bravo had the rights to such a new movie. My brother reckoned it was on Sky Box Office at the moment?

Anyhoo, I thought that might be useful info. I'll be watching. I have no idea whether it's any good or not as I haven't seen it before.

:D

Fantastically scary, unnerving vampire film. As many reviews said at the time, best vampire flick since Near Dark.

Remember seeing this at my local cinema with a few mates and we all came out saying that should no way have been a 15 certificate, considering the gore, at times unbearable tension and general level of menace throughout.

And yes, I was surprised to see this on Bravo too. Enjoy.:)

Does it have ad-breaks?
I saw it and was going to watch it but it goes on till 11:30 and i've got other stuff on at 11.

If it was 2 hours then it would have been great.

The film was at the cinema, and did quite well if I remember rightly. Good film, was waiting for it to appear on Sky Movies but it seems Bravo somehow got the rights first.

Yeah, it was terrifically brutal in places. Mainly the bits with an axe!!! The tension of the hiding and the isolation reminded me of The Thing. The overhead shots of the vamps slaughtering everyone in the streets was very cool as well. A very quick way of showing the vamps had taken over.

The ending was a bit rushed though I thought.

No idea. We just assumed it was the 1950's original and not the recent remake(I have no idea if there was a 1950's version btw). Then we put it on and saw Josh Hartnett and wondered how they'd got the rights so quickly.

I don't think there is a 1950s version that was the source material (just checked on imdb too). The film was based on a graphic novel.

There was also a spin-off short-movies collection, released around the same time as the proper movie. Didn't see it myself, but it's out there if you're interested (30 DON: Blood Trails).

This movie isn't really that good. It has a brilliant concept but poorly executed. This should have been a movie where it was thrilling and nicely done dark atmosphere. All we got was a movie that felt like it tried to please the mainstream movie goer that isn't keen on horror movies.

As an avid fan of this film, beg to differ. I though it was superbly executed throughout. The fast, visual style of shooting eg, the car rooftop attack scene, showed the ferocity of these creatures. The overhead panaromic shots of the slaughter in the snow was really effective - more so than a stagey ground battle. Throughout, there was a terrific sense of unease maintained - the girl as bait was harrowing. It achieved what it set out to do, in style I thought.

I'm a seasoned horror fan (not of ilk like 'Saw' though), and though no movie would stand equal with the likes of Near Dark and The Thing - the two movies 30 Days closely resembles, this was a worthy entry into the horror genre. And I don't see a problem in a movie widening its audience net so it doesn't just pander to afficianados of the genre. When that happens, you get cack like the Saw franchise, Hostel and numerous other horror-torture rubbish that's flooded the cinema over recent years.

They aren't up to much tbh. It's more a short series of 3-4 minute webisodes which contain very little and you get the opening credits on each part which is annoying as well lol

I was just thinking the same thing how did bravo get this film before sky???

the film did well in america, #1 i believe.

very good film best vampire flick in a long time, the books are a good read too. Maybe a sequel?????

Yep, I had to double check that one whilst flicking through the channels.
Amazing how a shitty little channel can be showing fairly recent releases such as this but then 30 Days of Night is an absolute stinker so it's not such a shock after all.

also surprised this was on Bravo.

first time I'd seen it
Was Ok but all the way through couldnt help thinking how much better it could have been if they had got John Carpenter to direct it.

I hope Bravo show this again soon.

Bravo choose the only night of the year (when there is lots of TV for me to watch) to screen the premiere of a recent movie I have never seen.

So? It got a so-so rating on rotten tomatoes and a scathing review in ViewLondon.

In my opinion it was a real stinker, had it not being so full of unintentional humour I would have said it was quite possibly one of the worst films I've ever sat through, but as I said, it did make me laugh at times, albeit unintentionally.
