I just watched it and these are my thoughts:
First of all, this is a direct-to-DVD sequel. Already warning signs have sprung up because direct- to-DVD films are only made so studios can make a quick buck without spending a lot of money on it. But this film almost defeated the odRAB. Almost. .
The filmmakers did an ok job with the limited budget and time that they had. It's well shot but not particularly well directed. The pacing was a little slow. This film has a very small cast - something you will notice right away - but the actors weren't bad at all. The script could definitely have used some more work. There were some silly scenes, especially when the characters go into the vampires "nest" ill prepared - MORE THAN ONCE!
As for the vampires, they're not nearly as creepy looking as they were in the original film. A very small film budget will do that. This movie is also very brooding. There's no "jokey' or happy moments in it - everyone is dead serious. I liked that. It's a horror film afterall.
As vampires movies go, there are much better ones out there but "Dark Days" wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. But with a little more preparation time, it could have been a pretty decent film. I'm not going to say whether you should or shouldn't see this. That's entirely up to you since you're your own best critic. But if you're interested in it then rent it first before buying.
