Will bell be running 3 satellites in the near future?

I was on ebay looking for a new dish and LNB and have come across an ad stating bell will be upgrading to 3 satellites to add more HD channels.

Can someone expand on this please.

Thanks guys

It depends what you consider the "near future"

I would not worry about the 72.7 degree slot.

Bell have not gone with 8PSK or MPEG4 yet and it is already well documented that 16 of the 32 transponders are already leased to Dish anyway.

Maybe not immediately, but I bet they will use 73 for additional HD. Maybe sooner than we think.

At that point, they will use the Dish 1000. It will work perfectly with all the legacy stuff they like to use.

So Iam about to purchase a 20" dishnet and a DPP Twin LNB and seperator...already have a DPP44 switch.

Should I just get a dishnet 1000 now?

You don't need a DPP twin with a DPP44. In fact, that may not work properly. If you go the 20" route, get it with a DP Twin (note only one P).

The 1000 with DP duals will also work fine with the DPP44 and you are set for when the 73 satellite is launched.

Well, Iam sure I"ll have more questions about this Dishnet 1000 dish so I"ll move myself over to the install thread.

Thanks

When attached to a dpp44 a dpp twin functions as a dp twin and input slot for the third satillite is non fuctional. It will work, but it well be detected as a dp twin not a dpp twin.

Has anyone tried to add a lnb for 72.7 to their existing standard 92/81 20 inch dish (3 lnbs, one dish)? Theoretically it should be held virtually right next to the 82 lnb, but i dont know if it is physically possible to pull in enough reception this way for 72.7...

That's news to me. Can you explain?
