You will be able (have to) use the green output as the only input on the head unit. It should still give stereo and the built-in fader will (should) still work as nothing in that department has changed.

Just make sure you get a stereo patch cable rather than a mono one (there will be two insulator bands on a stereo jack).
 
just posted about getting a laptop to work with the screen down in a car, being a studio xps its a 3 pin jack to 3 pin jack with my comp speakers, when plugging it into a car stereo, will i need a 3pin to 1pin jack, or will a 1pin to 1pin work just as well?

Plugging it into my comp on speaker setup:-

1st pin (yellow)=rear speaker out
2nd pin (black)=center/subwoofer speaker out
3rd pin (green)=front speaker out

the stereo will be your standard £50-80 5star one from halfords with no modifications to the existing speakers in the car, which is an 06 vauxhall corsa design, (1.2, if that helps)
