Hi All,

Well I am three months post-op, and about to start my physio. Does anyone know what kind of exercises I will be doing?
I feel pretty good and havent been on any pain meRAB for the last two months. The only complaint is my right leg hurts alot, but I am hoping physio will help.

Thanks
J.

My PT was all pilate type excercises. They want to make sure your stomach muscles are strong so that they can support your back. I also did the recurabent bike but I had hip pain while doing it so that was stopped and I just walked a lot for aerobic exercise. Good Luck with your PT!!

Hi J.,
I'm just over 2 months from my surgery and started PT 3 weeks ago, am doing mostly pool therapy -walking in the pool and exercises in the pool. I did just start some 'land' exercises last week and using the recurabent cross-trainer at my last appt. My land exercises are for the core muscles (so, maybe like pilates??) and are done while lying on my back. I'm very slow with most of my exercises, in pool and out, at this point -and slow on the cross-trainer, too. I've been walking as therapy since I had surgery and that is improving all the time. Just a note, starting PT did not make me feel better, but rather a bit worse at first. Then, I felt better. Now, that we're 'upping' my PT, I may feel a bit worse again before feeling better (again). I'd ask for heated ultrasound on your leg as part of your PT, see if it helps some. Also, ask for the deep heat ultrasound at your incision site --that's used to help break up scar tissue or prevent it from forming. My PT does that on me once a week.
Good luck!
Meghan
