Ok so three guys stay in a hotel room that cost $30. so they each pay $10. But then the owner tells them that the room was only $25. so he sends the bell hop up to them with their $5 return. The 3 guys each take $1 dollar back and tip the bell hop $2. So since they only paid $9 for a room since they got $1 back so 9x3 is $27. and they gave the bell hop $2. so $27 plus $2 is $29. what happened to the other dollar

"So since they only paid $9 for a room since they got $1 back so 9x3 is 27. and they gave the bell hop $2."

Three people paid $9 each, which is $27, for a room that is $25. So they gave the bell hop the two extra dollars. What other dollar are you talking about? It's not $27 dollars plus the two dollars they gave the bell hop. Because they gave the bell hop $2 from the $27. Tweenty-seven dollars plus the $3 they got back equals $30.

25/3 = 8.3333$, so each paid 8.3$ for the room, add 1$ from what they got back = 9.33333$ , now 9.3333 X 3 = 28$ add the 2 $ from the tip and here you go.

NOTE: the #.3333 (goes infinite)
