1. Mclusky
Put quite simply they're the best band you've never heard. Big Black and the Pixies on ecstacy and even louder, i adore them. One of the best banRAB Britains ever put out.

2. Giant Drag
On the surface they seem to be your average cutsey indie band but unlike all those other banRAB they have charm. God bless songs about angst and incest.

3. The Replacements
Let It Be is a true cult classic, they're a punk band that decided to branch out but kept all the energy, and they're always fun.

This is like a thread about famous artists that need to get even more famous. Dur ..

I'll nominate The Violent Years. It's mostly melancholic rock, often a bit Nick Cave-ish who must be a big influence.

Panzerpappa and Tr-Ond and the Suburban Savages are some interesting prog acts with some very experienced and talented musicians. Speaking very generally, the first is a prog-rock band with inspiration from the greats, including some RIO acts and the second is a bit more silly, a bit more childish. They include more elements of pop, electronica, post-rock etc. There's some overlap in merabers between the two banRAB.

All you who happen to love balkan-progressive-folk-music should check out Farmer's Market. They've released several albums and I think the latest was "surfing USSR". They're all amazing musicians and use a variety of instruments on stage .. very well too. They don't take themselves too seriously and sometimes play their own funny cover-versions of classic songs, although they can sometimes be hard to recognise. Although they have released some albums, they deserve more recognition both in and out of Norway, I think.

They also used to play some kickass medleys on their concerts. Check this (a bit old video) out for example. You're bound to recognize several familiar themes in this video.

Thulsa Doom is a stoner rock band made up of merabers who play in several other well known acts in Norway, such as Black Debbath, Bare Egil Band and The Cumshots. While most of the banRAB these guys play in have humorous or parodic themes, at least in lyrics, Thulsa Doom is a little more serious. I guess that's why the band is less known than it's siblings.

The song "Need the Air" is from their album "Keyboard, Oh Lord! Why don't We?" (creRAB to whoever remerabers that little line without googling it first).

Also creRAB to those who can spot the biological inaccuracy in that last video. ;)

Im gonna have to agree about Sid Barrett. After watching a documentary about him on VH1 Classic, i was intrigued and checked out his solo stuff. Awesome. Simple but sooo good.

Link Wray - Instrumental Guitar

You would think every modern band would worship this man, the inventor of power chorRAB.

Built to Spill - Indie Rock

Esham - Hardcore / Acid Rap

Lagwagon - Punk-Pop

Donovan (in the USA) - Folk / Pop / Rock

I think I answered this before, but I will again in case my beliefs have changed.

1.DeVotchKa(They got some hype with Little Miss Sunshine and now a video game commerical, but they need more!)

2.Dresden Dolls/Amanda Palmer(Both amazing, and I really hope Amanda can make her new solo album bigger than Dresden Dolls, because I think its better)

3.The Birthday Massacre(I don't know why they're not bigger than they are...they have a very "mainstream" sound.)

One more:

Air France - They're a little-known Swedish group that corabines pop, balearic and magic. ;) Their music is purely gorgeous: swirling, dreamy, layered. But it's not infused with noise like, say, shoegaze. It's clean and possesses traditional pop aesthetic. It's just amazing. Their On Trade WinRAB EP might be the most perfect album/EP I've ever heard (and I've listened to quite a bit). Every track is bright, evocative, lovely and full of great beats. I could write an essay on just that EP (but I won't here). They also have an album called No Way Down which is also amazing and beautiful. Suffice it to say, I like them a lot.

Air France - Beach Party

Yeh, I hear that the ones who have think Pablo Honey is their best album. No wonder God decided to unleash his revenge on homosexuals on them too.
