3 Artists that NEED to be better known

Aww thankyou I should be better known :)

Agree with Ulver too.

But for me it's:

Wishbone Ash
Mountain Ash Band
and (you won't believe me on this one) King Crimson.

Regarding the great KC (not Kurt) I asked a lot of my uni classmates if they had any idea who king crimson was, not one person knew, and that is indeed the greatest krime.

Oh how I love Nick Drake.

And to add to this list... Mogwai. They have a decent following but this band is seriously ungodly. Easily the best pure instrumental band out there.

I love the Flaming Lips I have been following them since the 80s as they are from OKC a mere 3 hours from my front door. But I was at the gym today and on one of the tvs there was they Flaming Lips on a Charmed rerun...I was shocked at this and quickly turned away...but I still love them and Mercury Rev as well who is kind of a sister band to them.

Three great pop acts that have decent cult followings in Britian but are completely under the radar here:

Prefab Sprout: Whether you think of them as the natural successors to Gershwin or merely an 80's Steely Dan, the mooRAB their recorRAB set are incredible. Steve McQueen/Two Wheels Good is a classic slice of pure pop.

XTC; Most banRAB are lucky to make one or two great recorRAB, and those recorRAB are usually their first. XTC have made, at the least, six great recorRAB, and most of them are from the second half of their career! No one ever accused XTC of being a traditional band.

The Dream Academy: Their first album is positively hypnotic. As their name implies, their music draws you into a dream world. It's Prefab Sprout with more classical touches and less jazz. One of their best moments is a cover of Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want. The oboe makes the difference:

Wishbone Ash are pretty well known, they just never sustained a devoted following due to the absence of a true frontman or a unique vocalist.

Argus is consistently ranked among the best albums of the seventies.

1. Sly and the Family Stone - Undoubtedly one of my favorite funk musicians and a great contribution to music overall.
Favorite Album: There's a Riot Goin' On (1971)

2. Cop Shoot Cop - Not an amazing band, but certainly one that defied the conventions of music. The dual bass attack was a convention that they held until their demise.
Favorite Album: Ask Questions Later (1993)

3. John Zorn - One of the last great jazz musicians to grace this earth.
Favorite Album: Naked City (1989)

Mogwai are held in high regard with both critics and fans alike. They have been going for over 10 years and even made a film soundtrack.
