Hi everyone... I'm new and just have a quick question. I'm looking to upgrade my satellite so that I can get the military channel (been waiting for it for a looong time). My question is what do I need? I already have an LNB b/c I have an 18" dish, and I know that I need the 20". I went into my local bell store and was told that I need the second LNB ($90-100) and the new dish ($130). I've looked on ebay and found a 20" dish for a fraction of the price and it comes with an LNB. Can I use that LNB as well as the one that I have, or do I need a special LNB? I really don't want to spend over $200 just so I can get 1 station. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Brad

EBAY is fine for everything you need. Just match sure that you get a SW21 switch or a sw44 switch if you have more than one receiver as well. It joins the 2 lnbs together.

I bought a QUAD LNB. That way you wouldn't need any switches. It is a bit simplier and tidy. You will still need a 20" dish.

Any BEV/Dish Network legacy LNB will work, but all you have to do is call customer service, tell the CSR you want to sub to Variety 3 theme, or just Military if is is available as pick n pay, and you will get the 82 upgrade free, as long as you keep Variety 3 for atleast 6 months.

Those prices are way out of line (about double the normal retail price.) An upgrade kit consisting of a dish and LNB retails for about $100 and they are a lot cheaper on eBay or in the Digital Home want ads. OTOH, EV may upgrade your dish for free. They will upgrade you dish if you commit to a 1 year subscription for any channels on the second satellite.

Call Bell.

If you subscribe to the Military Channel you will be eligible to get your entire system upgraded for free or very close to it.

A Tech will come out and install whatever Upgrade kit is required, you pay via Credit Card and get that money back via credits on your account.

You have to keep the subscription for a minimum 6 moths or they will charge you for the Upgrade Kit and Installation.

Plus The Military Channel is available for $2.50/mth, I believe, as a stand-alone choice, or $15 over the 6 mth window. Cheap upgrade, huh?

No need to go on e-bay and spend that much...

We will charge you the cost of the piece on a credit card (which will vary according to how many receivers you have), book a tech for the install and put an open order for adding the theme pack. I belive at the time that the channel is not offer in a pick and pay... You need to keep the pack for a minimum of 6 months. The charge for the upgrade will be refunded on your next Express Vu bill.

I think that was EXACTLY what I said but then again I knew you would word it differently Agent.....lol
