Hi i have a Nokia N82 and plan to upgrade my memory from 2GB to an 8GB micro SD. When i get it can i simply copy the contents of the 2GB and paste it to the 8GB using my computer and continue as normal with the 8GB or is this not possible i have several apps installed to the SD to save internal space (the momory hogs) e.g. installed tomtom where map is on the SD, among other things.

Wirelessly posted (The Eliteness: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95_8GB-3/20.2.005 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

basically copy everything from your 2gb to your 8gb on a pc. Its a no-brainer

I wouldn't say its a no brainier, its not the same for a PC you cant copy and paste your C drive to another drive and boot up on the new drive and expect it to work.

i was hoping copy paste was the solution but had to make sure before i bought a 8GB otherwise i would not bother and just live with the 2GB.

thanks though!

You may also run into an issue with the icons not showing up correctly or all of the applications being dumped into the standard Applications folder instead of where you moved them. Reinstalling the application usually fixes it, or removing and reinserting the memory card.

I had no problems whatsoever just putting my phone in usb flash disk mode, then the new memory card in a card reader, then just copy everything over. All icons and apps worked just fine. But make sure to put the phone in flash disk mode so that you can access the hidden folders.
