28 days later

i for one thought that the film was really good up untill the point they went to manchester (no offence to mancunians its the story that wnet crap not you) they way LONDON was made to look deserted and the skyline was brilliant, apparently its doing really well in the states but not in europe, funny that

Have you seen the extras on DVD yet, the alternate ending is interesting to say the least. If the alt. ending had been filmed for the dvd (seamless branching) I think it would have been a better film. That said good enough film and package for the

I thought the film was great - really quite exciting.

It's out just now in the US and is doing really well. But it is also being heavily advertised with trailors on TV nightly - I don't think there was such a massive blast of advertising in the UK?

i still haven checked out the dvd extras coz as soon as i got the dvd someone borrowed it off me and i think they ahve done a runner wit it:mad:

pretty good summary! :D

thought it was pretty good myself. the scenes of london at the start worked really well, the story went beyond mere zombie's chasing the survivors yaddy yaddy yaddy, the scenes where they were getting chased by zombies, especially in the tunnel, were very well done - really pretty scary in that grainy handheld fast cut style.

as for the ending - sure, a bit cheesy, but after the darkness of the film, I thought it worked ok as a contrast, and the film overall had kond of earned it.

hmm, just finished watching this film. Not sure what to make of it really! Some of it was alright but some of it dragged on a bit as well..it just seemed kinda like:

1."explore random building"
2."zombie/freak things ahh kill them"
3.repeat steps 1 and 2 for a bit.

:D I dunno though, maybe it'll grow on me in time. I MUCH prefered "The Last Train" though, much better than this film and no need for the gore and language in it :)

Can anyone explain the ending for me to 28 days later though? Am i missing something obvious? Why didnt the plane land and instead fly off, and why were there planes in the first place? (like when he saw one in the sky halfway through the movie). Am i being dense? :D

Well in all honesty, I was expecting a totally different kind of movie to what I saw.

I was expecting an all out zombiefest, with loaRAB of rip roaring blood and guts scenes and make you jump out of your seat moments.

But it was more of a human drama about how the survivors coped with the aftermath of virus outbreak, not really my cup of tea.

You could tell certain segments and moments within the movie had ripped off stuff like George A Romero's Dead Trilogy, Day of the TriffiRAB, Night of the Comet, Omega Man, Escape from New York etc.

I agree though the segment where he is walking through the abandoned streets of london were very well done, the movie itself wasn't really a horror flick when you think about it.

Still though it is garnering universal aclaim from the British Film Industry which is good of course.

the reason no planes landed is because Britain is thought of as a small minority in the big scheme of things and wouldnt be worth the effort trying to save it

I was so disappointed in the film that I left when the credits began and missed the alternate ending...can anyone tell me about it? Thanks.

Check out the un filmed alternate ending, in the form of storyboarRAB and Danny Boyle doing the voices. Different film but would it have been better (I think so).

Exulus,
Thank you so much for answering :) I figured that in the ending either Jim would be dead, or they would have all gotten infected, leaving no hope for anyone.

The movie lost it's way after Brendan Gleeson was killed. And what's with the empty airwaves ? If planes can fly then messages can be broadcast ( not counting the Manchester broadcast which was on a loop). Just something simple like "hang on , all is not lost". Why did that bird carry a knife/machete to kill zombies with ? Everyone knows that nothing kills zombies like a 12 gauge pump action. And you can do it from farther away too ( helpful in case of deadly virus).....

12 gauge? Pah, that ain't a weapon for killing zombie freaks from hell, THIS is what every self respecting post-armageddon street-cleaner/survivalist neeRAB...

scroll down a bit to the first pic!

Yup that's tasty ! Still prefer the ol' pump action though, as I can see matey in your pic there struggling when it comes to high speed scaling of walls, fences, assorted debris. Still, he looks to be very useful in a fight.....

D'oh! Another partial success. The recoil would probably knock him on his arse too.

Maybe this neeRAB a new thread - favourite ways of dealing death to the not-so-dearly-departed. How about the lawnmower, as used in Peter Jackson's 'Brain Dead'? Groovy...

The first 60 minutes or so was an immensely exciting and thrilling experience but after that the film went rapidly downhill. The conclusion was awful and I felt that it was probably Fox's decision and not Danny Boyle's to go with that ending.

Perhaps an alternate DVD of 28 Days Later... will appear some time in the future?
