Hello,
When i try to do a *228 on cricket, with the ESN registered on tihe cricket, i get a message stating "The nuraber of SPC attempt fail 15 times from network. HanRABet will freeze for 1 minutes then power reset"
I think this is because the MSl is not set to 333333 like normal cricket phones trying to *228. Is there anyway to change that to allow *228 to work properly?

You need to have the 6700 hacked into and the MSL/SPC changed to 333333. It is the ONLY way. There are several cell shops or swap meet stanRAB here in AZ that can hack phones to put onto Cricket, but the 6700 is a pretty advanced phone... so... I dunno. Good luck!

You say your phone is Network Unlocked, that would mean you know the MSL,(most unlocked phones like all of Verizon's have the MSL set to 000000). If it is something else and you know it , then you should be able to change it in the programming menu. Set it to six zeros and it will work on Cricket's network,(my phones do with no problems). 333333 is a limited SPL for programming the phone the first time, it won't work where the MSL is needed. BITPIM software can get the code from the filesystem if you have a data cable. once you know the code you can then change it to six zeros. I don't know the specifics of your phone but search this forum it's loaded with info, just finding it thats tedious. Good luck

Yeah, i do know the MSL, i just cant get BITPIM to work with this phone, because it doesent see it when i add the com port for the usb device, nor can i find within the programming menu to change the spc. im thinking of calling qwest repair (original phone network) and seeing if i get another agent to assist me in changing it. other than that, anyone know how to get bitpim to find this phone so i can change this?

Try using the com port for the modem listed for the phone. That is how I get BITPIM to work for my phone using a USB cable. I don't know how much has changed in the NAM setup menu but my 8910 has the SPC code as the 4th item in NAM setup part of the programming menu. If you get BITPIM to work the SPC code is found in the \nvm\nvm\nvm_0002 file. Only edit this file with a hex editor, if you use a text editor like Notepad it will corrupt the file. I have also seen issues with certain files being locked and cannot be overwritten. It will cause BITPIM to error out. Good Luck

No I don't think you can because you need the MSL to access the phone with QPST. It asks for it when you first connect the phone. I may be wrong because the phones I have used with QPST all have been unlocked with MSL set to 000000. Does QPST see your phone? Have you tried different drivers for your cable? Also there is a Data Type selection in the settings menu of many phones (RS-232, USB, UART, DIAG,) are some choices I've seen, use RS-232 if you have a serial cable and USB for USB cable. The other two never have worked for anything I've tried if they even exist in the menu in the 1st place.

Ok if QPST connects to your phone and is supported in the SERVICE PROGRAMMING client section (my phone is not so I can only use the EFS EXPLORER with any reliability)have it read your phone and all the boxes will be populated with the current values. On the first tab called "Settings" the box next to "Service Programming Code" should have your MSL in it. Change this to 000000 and leave all the other settings as they are and press write to phone. It will write the new code to the phone along with the other settings which came from your phone in the first place. It's faily foolproof cuz if your phone is not supported your can't even read the values in the first place. You can also save all the settings to a file as a backup after reading from the phone before you change anything as an extra measure of protection.

Wow. This makes me think twice about getting one of these phones and converting it to Cricket.

I may do the old Audiovox-branded 6600 instead.

Have you tried a program like UniCDMA or QXDM? With UniCDMA, you can sometimes read what the spc is and change it there. If you know your spc, you can change it in QXDM and write the Cricket prl there. I think by default, the prl in QXDM is the 1040 prl. You'll need to find out which prl is used in your area since there now appears to be different prl's showing up for different areas. Some reporting that there prl gives them a faster and better internet connection.

OMG...does noone look at the post dates...none of these guys are still looking for this solution...this is a 2 year old thread that someone ressurected by comming on here and posting a solution that has long since been discovered...
