LOL yeah, the Russian billionnaire made me laugh...John Cusack kept the movie entertaining with his witty sense of humour throughout...good to see some british names in the film...Like, grimtales1 the movie does make you think, what if? apparently the Mayan calendar enRAB in December 2012, I read that does not indicate the world will end per say on that date, that was an interesting fact to learn...xo

I just think the CGI was very obvious, more so than in other films I have seen. I understand it has it's limits, but I was expecting to be blown away by it and I just kept thinking throughout the movie that it was very obviously computer generated.
I still enjoyed the movie though, just thought the CGI wasn't as good as some people did.

Watched this last night and thought it was spectacularly dumb fun, if not quite as good as Independence Day or The Day After Tomorrow imho. Still it was worth a trip to the flicks to see it on the big screen as some of the CGI was awesome 6/10

One of the dumbest films I've seen in years - and not in an excusable because it's a popcorn munching blockbuster way. Just irritatingly crass and stupid and oh so very long.
How many times were we supposed to be getting excited about a plane flying away from danger at the last minute?
I can only assume that the actors involved all had big bills to pay.
The only way I'd watch it again is if someone edited together the F/X sequences.
On the subject of which - certificate noted but for an apocalypse this was strangely almost bloodless.

I saw it with frienRAB last night. General consensus was that it was one of the worst films ever, if not THE WORST. Just awful.

Sooo glad to see such positive reviews from people. Those who liked it seemed to take it for what it was and that's enough/ It was nightmareish and that's what I loved about it. Loved the global scale to it which I thought was lacking in The Day After Tomorrow. I do also find it odd how New York wasn't shown to be destroyed. Roland ususally loved to ruin it (ID4, Godzilla, TDAT). Obviously it got destroyed by a Tsunami but I wish we'd seen it.

The special effects were top class , something that hasnt been mentioned so far in this thread was Yellowstone erupting , favorite part,thought that was madness.
Overall though pretty lame and dragged.
Not a patch on Day after tommorow.
