Hi i have just got back from watching this film and i do recommend it although if you get anxious over these things its best not to watch i thought it was a good film and it really opened my eyes up to the fact that this could actually and may have possibly already started. In the film it starts in 2009 with a scientist noticing more earthquakes in the world then normal leading to fears that the earths core is actually eroding away now with quite a few earthquakes happening in the world today do you actually believe in 2012 or not
 
well the world will not end until its swallowed by the sun or obliterated by a massive asteriod. Mankind, however, could be wiped out quite easily. But theres as much chance as it happening tomorrow as 2012.
 
We're really excited by this film over here. It is ficticious obviously but I am a believer in the end of days. Ancient religious prophecies to predict the end of days in a certain time in december 2012. Plenty of time for the London 2012 olympics then. :D
 
Really enjoyed the film. Long, but in a good way. The action scenes are obviusly the best part and after the very first major disaster scene I was so impressed I was worried there wasn't going to be anymore as they'd blown the budget on that :o But there were plenty more as well as a decent and interesting storyline.
 
I just came back from seeing it and I had mixed feelings.

Of course, the whole story is very far fetched, but that's the point in films like this. They are uber-exaggerations.

The effects were really good, but that was really all there was to the film. There's the usual father/son break down, mother and father have split up and there's a boyfriend involved, out of the millions of people in the USA somehow the same people keep meeting each other in disaster areas... someone turns a bit bad but then good triumphs etc etc etc (just general Hollywood disaster movie clich
 
I thought that this was amazing if not for the storyline for the special effects at least, they absolutley spectacular i hate to think how much this movie cost. I was expecting the storyline to be much worse but i actually quite enjoy it, my only real problem was that there very little Woody Harrelson in the movie.

Do i believe in 2012?!?! Yes and No, do i believe the government will eff us over as in the movie if it does happen?!?!? YUP!!!
 
It wasn't really about the end of the world, was it...but about the near-end of civilisation. The end of the world would have involved the total destruction of the earth.
 
My boyfriend has gone to see this tonight - on his own!! wtf! i refused to go. The day after tomorrow was bad enough, i get the feeling this is a simaler film.
 
dear god this film was trash of the higest order

effects were good - though to be honest they got worse as the film went on. they still can't do water properly yet..

i cringed so often during it

and they didnt seem bothered at the end that BILLIONS of people had died
 
Trashy disaster porn with terrible dialogue and nothing but special effects. Get the popcorn, I'm there!

Let's face it, people must know by now what to expect. The Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, The Day After Tomorrow etc. aren't exactly intellectual classics.
 
Went last night to see this.

Not bad, but its absolutely a 'cinema' film to take in the sound and effects on the scale they are done. Even a nice 40' odd inch flat screen wouldn't do it justice.

It was very formulaic and follows the exact same course as all Emmerichs disaster movies. But it was a fun one-time watch.

However, dont research the Mayan calendar, Pole Shifts (particularly Patrick Geryl), Nibiru, Aligning with the Galactic Centre, if you are easily disturbed. Not saying I believe any of it, but some of it is a little unsettling.
 
Saw it today, thought it was ok very similar to Day after tomorrow. I swear R.Lee Emery (Sgt Hartmann) was the captain of the ship?
 
Saw it today thought it was really good !and yes reminded me of the Day After Tommorow but loved that aswell ..yes like TDAT it has flaws but the special effects were awesome ! a bit over long i thought 2 hours would have been better and a bit far fetched at times paticulaly when the plane was darting between the falling buildings with a novice pilot ..oh yeah!! but overall good cinema entertainment !
