well it is Roland "one-trick" Emmerich after all :) You know exactly what you're going to get...You have a choice!

As already stated - it's a big, dumb popcorn flick that Hollywood like to churn out and the masses lap it up. Personally, I hate this type of thing, unless it's on Boxing Day TV as I'm stuffed from Xmas dinner with nothing better to do...I therefore spend my hard earned cash on films I prefer to watch at the cinema instead.
 
This film was really bad. Too many unrealistic coinsidences and stuff. Like that person that magically knew how to fly a plane after only one lesson. And when flying that plane, they managed to only just avoid about 20 buildings and other objects by a split second each time. Oh and when they flew THROUGH a collapsing building. :rolleyes:
 
Hang on, you're a media student and your favourite film ever is 2012??? That would be like a trainee michelin chef having pot noodles as his favourite dish :eek::D
 
I thought it was OK in a stupid sort of way, I liked the volcanic bits, Yellowstone exploding and Hawaii swamped with lava etc, but other things just didn't ring faesable.

For example, you all saw how the WTC came down creating vast plumes of choking dust, where were these while Johnny Cusak was driving underneath them?

Also, a continent shifted by a thousand miles? I think there would be a lot more than a few tidal waves if that happened.

And if the earth heated up by that much to cause this to happen, it would take MILLIONS of years to cool back down again, we'd be extinct within a generation, arks or not.
 
Lol....I`am only taking the mick....There are a few films that I`v really enjoyed that were panned by the critics and punters. Each to their own as they say....I hope you do well at college.:)
 
I think he secretly hates America. He's always destroying it and their White House, plus his films are full of OTT patriotic flag waving, almost like he's making fun of them!
 
I just kept thinking that i can't believe they could still make a big budget film this bad in this day and age.

From what i recall it was just a cgi w@nk fest that involved a car racing along with the road disintegrating just behind it. The the car would get to a plane where it took off with the runway disintegrating just behind it and had to swerve to avoid falling buildings.

Then they would get out of the plane, into a different car, drive off with the road disintegrating just behind it to another plane with the runway...... etc
