I believe in the name of cost reduction. The new seats do have a lower profile with more back support, so that's kinda cool. Going along with the cost reduction thing, look at the new floor boards. Now they're a two-piece design instead of a three-piece.
On the older ones the black rubber mounted to a chrome plate, and that assembly was mounted on the bottom chrome plate. Now it's just an upper rubber plate that pops on to the lower chrome plate. Kind of nice that it's bigger though...
I did too. WOT to about 4000-4500 a bunch of times in the first 20-30 miles (time it took to get from SJ HD to Redwood City).
I'm a big believer in the Mototune break-in method.
