2010 Throttle performance

just hit my 1k service... other than being in the shop 3 seperate times for the low idle problem its been good.

for some reason no matter how much throttle i would give it... it would only idle. took 3 trips to the shop to get it fixed.

Hate it, definate lag in mine. With the tall first gear and the lag, I stall it at least once a ride trying to take off in a hurry. Been out of town and only have about 300 mostly highway miles with it, I'm sure I will get used to it eventually. But why fix what wasn't broke?

On the other hand, the cruise control works better, doesn't lose as near as much speed on a hill, you set it, it stays there.

My limited also has slack/play at application of throttle. Makes it difficult at times to do a 90 degree turn from a stop or to do slow manuevering. Even when riding severe twisties I feel as if I do not have enough throttle control at low speeds. My 01 RK doesn't have these problems. I miss the cables.

I have the oppisite....on long rides the spring tension is so that my hand hurts holding it in position. I have to go to cruise mode to get a break.

The thing should have a snap to it.

I've got a TTS and have the TPS ramp map set to 0.

My buddy has the same cams, but with a PCV. Tuned the same day, same dyno, same operator. Within 1-2hp/tq of each other.

I *much* prefer the feel of the standard map on his bike to the 0 map on my bike. Small throttle openings are so much smoother. You don't snap your neck with a fistful of throttle when going over a bump. Also, his bike feels a bit crisper on the bottom end.

I think what is happening on mine is that it's getting too much fuel too quickly, and that the Harley engineers did figure out partial-throttle fueling pretty well.

Just my opinion, based on personal experience.

The other thing that absolutely SUCKS about TBW bikes is there's no "stiction" in the throttle. At least with a throttle cable, there's a nice spot where you're not putting any pressure on your wrist holding the throttle open. The slight amount of drag on the cables helps hold your throttle position.

If I didn't have cruise control, I'd have a MAJOR case of carpal tunnel syndrome. I have to focus way to much on holding the throttle position. At least the PM grips helped.

I miss that aspect of my carburated '04.

I went from a hopped up dyna to streetglide. I hear ya I have tried 3 sets grips and then finally went back to the Kuryakan ISO that I used for over 12 years and that seem to help throttle control and I have gotten used to it.
